Save for your Europe road trip! 👇🏼🇵🇹🚙🚨DAY 7 of our ‘12 days of road trips’ series!🚨If you’re looking for a stunning road trip in Europe then you have to check out the island of Madeira! Think lush green mountains, black sand beaches, subtropical climate and stunning hiking! ⛰️Madeira is a Portuguese island located in the North Atlantic Ocean.📆 We spent a week on Madeira island and that was enough time to check out these places and more!🌦️ We visited mid October. We had fantastic weather and it is a quieter time to visit than the summer.Here are some of our favourite stops! 👇🏼
📍Stop 1: Miradouro de São Cristovão⛰️This place took our breath away! There is a gorgeous little bar and restaurant here and definitely worth a stop! 📍Stop 2: Seixal beach 🌊One of the best spots for sunrise on the island! The gorgeous black sand beach has a gorgeous backdrop of the green mountains.
📍Stop 3: Achadas da Cruz cable car 🚡You have to take one of the steepest cable cars in Europe to get down to this spot, but boy is it worth it! They generally stop letting people go down at 4.30pm to make sure they can get everyone back up for closing at 6pm!
📍Stop 4: Fanal Forest🌳One of the most magical and enchanting spots on the island. Visit early in the morning to see this beautiful forest covered in fog. It’s dreamy!
📍Stop 5: 25 Fontes Falls🥾One of the most popular hikes in the island and with good reason! It’s 5.3 miles (8.5 km). Be sure to go early as the crowds come pouring in! There are some steep drop offs and the paths are narrow in places.
📍Stop 6: Miradouro da Eira do Serrado⛰️This was one of the most spectacular viewpoints on the island! Be sure to go early as the cloud can build by early afternoon!
📍Stop 7: Pico do Areeiro🌅This is one of the most stunning spots for sunset on the island! It will be so so busy at sunrise. It’s great to see it during the day as well as the evening!
