Trump GOES NUTS As Canada made SHOCKING EV Deal with EU: BYE BYE Tesla!

In 2021, the Canadian government made a clear commitment: by the year 2025, at least one in every ten new vehicles sold in the country would be electric. At the time, this goal seemed both bold and slightly out of reach. Electric vehicles, or EVs, were still viewed by many Canadians as expensive, impractical for long distances, and dependent on a charging infrastructure that didn’t yet exist in many parts of the country.
But instead of waiting and hoping for the market to shift on its own, the government took action. It rolled out a wide range of measures to support the growth of electric vehicles, targeting both the supply and demand sides of the equation. For consumers, financial incentives made a real difference. Federal rebates of up to $5,000 helped lower the upfront cost of eligible electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, bringing them closer in price to their petrol and diesel counterparts. In provinces like British Columbia and Quebec, additional provincial rebates stacked on top of federal ones, sometimes shaving thousands more off the final price tag.
Charging infrastructure also saw a major boost. Public and private sector investments helped expand the number of charging stations across the country. According to Natural Resources Canada, by early 2025 there are now over 25,000 charging connectors in place, making it easier for Canadians to drive electric vehicles with confidence, whether they're commuting to work or going on a road trip.
