Florida Fish and Wildlife officers received a complaint that someone had two alligators in their swimming pool. On August 23, 2024, officers made contact with the suspect, later identified as a 42 year old male named Robert.
In the end, Robert was charged with 2 counts of illegal possession or capturing of alligators, taking alligators without a trapping license, and taking or possessing softshell turtles. On December 11, 2024, he was adjudicated guilty for one possession or capturing of alligators charge, a third degree felony. The remaining charges were dropped. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and was ordered to pay $947.50 in costs and fees.
