Melting iron or nickel? Easy. But tungsten and molybdenum? Their melting points are so high that casting isn’t an option. Instead, they’re shaped using powder metallurgy and sintering, where metal powder is compressed and heated just below melting point. This process bonds the particles without turning them to liquid, preserving the heat resistance and strength of these refractory metals.
