Buses in Warrandyte (2019); Transdev & Panorama - Melbourne Transport

In this video we visit Warrandyte, a suburb by the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne's north east. With a population of 5,541 Warrandyte is popular with locals and tourists for its natural beauty, shops, cafes, galleries, and other historic places. Today though we're here to see some buses!

Warrandyte is served by routes 364 and the 906 Smartbus operated by Kinetic, and routes 578 and 579 operated by Panorama Coaches. However as this video was filmed in February 2019 routes 364 & 906 were still operated by Transdev, with Kinetic having taken over their contract in January 2022.

As a result we see some fairly interesting buses. With the exception of the Scania K230UB's with Custom Coaches 'CB60 Evo II' bodies, all of the Transdev buses we see in this video have since been withdrawn from service. This includes the Mercedes Benz O405NH's with Custom Coaches '550' and 'CB60' bodies, the Scania L94UB's with Custom Coaches 'CB60 C-Max' bodies, and the MAN 16.240's with Designline bodies (although Kinetic still keeps a number of these buses for rail replacement duties).

The Panorama Coaches buses we see are a MAN 18.320 with a Volgren 'CR228L' body, a MAN 19.320 with a Volgren 'Optimus' body, and of note a Mercedes Benz O405NH with an ABM 'CB60' body; since sold to Forbes Bus Lines in NSW. We also see a couple of coaches on school runs.

Panorama will soon no longer operate route services due to the incoming Zero Emissions Bus Franchises due to come into effect on the 1st July 2025. These new contracts are based on geographic regions with one company to operate all routes in a certain area. All of Panorama's routes were included in the Pink region which was won by Dysons, hence Dysons will operate routes 578 & 579 from the 1st July.
