Electric Light Orchestra ~ Do Ya 1976 Classic Rock Purrfection Version

I will bet that you did not know that the 1976 single by ELO "Do Ya" was a cover version. The original was recorded by The Move and reached #93 on the Hot100 in 1972. It was also covered by Todd Rundgren (Can We Still Be Friends) in concerts by 1975 and then the band felt they could re record it. The Move did morph into ELO and they took a second stab at it and this time, it had legs.

The first single issued from "A New World's Record" was "Livin' Thing" and it peaked at #13, then the second single issued was "Do Ya" and it peaked at #24 this time out. Lynne felt that it was a good song. Bev Bevans was being interviewed by a midwest DJ who thought the song was Rundgren's after seeing ELO one night. That was when the band decided to redo it and reclaim ownership.
