The rural landscape of Sandomil is the biggest Heritage of the village, with water mills on the riverbank and the fantastic river beach with sparkling waters.
The Legend of Sandomil:
At the time of the Roman invasions, the invading troops were successively defeated by the bravery of the Herminios, commanded by Viriato, in the foothills of Serra da Estrela.
In one of the attempts to conquer the riverside lands on the banks of the Alva, as they approached Sandomil, they did not count on the bravery of its inhabitants, who gave them a tremendous defeat.
In retreat, the Romans debated whether or not they should return to the charge, telling each other that it would not be worth it, for against such defenders, "nem sendo mil”, not even a thousand, ("Sandomil") would defeat them.
