Running a few hours earlier than expected, SRS operated transfer movement 9L61 from Dry Creek South to Tailem Bend works through suburban Goodwood behind ALARC's 701 on Friday the 1st of March 2024.
The last week has seen SRS and the Australian Locomotive and Railway Carriage Company (ALARC) running the 700 between Tailem Bend and Dry Creek to transfer ex V/Line N set carriages to the Aurizon Wheel Lathe for profiling. Earlier in the morning, 701 worked 9L60 with 4 N type carriages, dropping two off at Dry Creek South before running around it's train and returning to Tailem Bend with the remaining two carriages.
The 700 has now ran on the mainline under ALARC ownership with Sydney Rail Services accreditation 4 times between November 2022 and the present, with hopes of reviving the short-lived 'Murraylander' tourist train which previously ran around South Australia in the early 2000's.
