This was pretty crazy idea to attempt - the fugue subject is God Save The Queen in (3/4 time), and the countersubject is Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (in 4/4 meter).
This was written for Day 4 of Ryan Leach's "2022 Theme of the Day Composition Challenge" where I'll compose one piece per day for the entirety of June. The prompt for June 4th was "Long Live The Queen". So I naturally went for what every sane person would do - make a 4-voice introduction and fugue with the subject being "God Save The Queen" (God Save The King - British National Anthem) and countersubject being Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". This was my first attempt at writing a tonal fugue, let alone a four voice one, so I'm probably unintentionally breaking all sorts of counterpoint rules. The organ helped convey a sense of majesty, and it was also easier writing multiple lines due to the third staff (as compared to writing it for a two staff piano). It was also a challenge to get the subject (originally in 3/4) to sync with the countersubject (4/4). It's the work I'm the most satisfied with so far, considering the one day time limit I had to compose this piece.
