A Closer Look: Episode 13 - Nicholas of Verdun's Shrine of the Three Kings, with Dr Nick Gordon

This giant reliquary was designed for Cologne Cathedral, to hold the relics of the Three Kings who paid homage to the newly-born Christchild. It's a triumph of medieval metalwork attributed to Nicholas of Verdun, a goldsmith about whom we know relatively little, but whose mastery of technique is clear for all to see in this extraordinary work.
