A few words from the band:

Just like with “The Emptiness In Which You Hide”, this song - our second HORDES IN EXILE single to date - mainly draws its influences from the Melodic Hard Rock- and A.O.R. bands of the 80s; the music we grew up listening to, which in many ways have helped shaping us in our own musical journeys.

Musically, “In The Fast Lane” is a nod to riff lords, such as John Sykes, Jake E. Lee and Warren DeMartini, where each part is meant to work as a composition within a composition. Other bands/artists, working as bricks in the formation of HORDES IN EXILE, are Ratt, Europe, John Norum, Winger, Dokken, Yngwie Malmsteen, Alien, Steelheart, Queensrÿche, Warrant, Fastway, Slaughter and Giant, to name a few.

Vocally, some of the inspirations and influences for this project in general (some celebrated, some unsung), are Göran Edman, Ronnie Atkins, Stephen Pearcy, Robin McAuley, Dave King and Jeff Scott Soto.

Lyrically, “In The Fast Lane” deals with the dark and tragic fate of the late Alice In Chains singer Layne Staley. A frontman who in many ways epitomized “the suffering and struggling artist/genius”. As longtime fans of his work and talent, this is our way of honoring his life and legacy.
