Vanessa Marshall on Voice Acting, Her Favorite Star Wars Merch, and More

Behind every Star Wars animated project, there’s a legion of hardworking, talented voice actors who bring our favorite characters, legacy and new, to life on-screen. They leave a lasting impact, no matter if they’re stepping in for a brief time or returning across multiple series. For the latter, voice actress Vanessa Marshall, who’s lent her voice to hundreds of projects and numerous iconic characters, joined Collider’s Media Studio at Star Wars Celebration 2025 for her role as General Hera Syndulla. She originally brought the Twi’lek to life for Star Wars: Rebels, and returned for all of Hera’s reappearances across series, all the way Disney+’s Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

At the con, Marshall geeks out about her favorite Star Wars movie and merch, why she doesn’t do any intense prep work before entering the booth, and how she believes video games like The Last of Us and the pandemic have played a hand in the resurgence of appreciation for voice acting.
