Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Trump administration have announced plans to phase out eight petroleum-based synthetic food dyes over the next two years, but the ban is not immediate and details are still being finalized.
The FDA had already mandated a ban on Red Dye No. 3 by 2027, and this new move expands efforts to remove more artificial dyes from foods like candy and snacks, but the process will take time and hasn't gone into effect yet.
