App Configures Alcohol Intake

With New Year's Eve comes celebrating. Whether you're heading to the MoonPie drop or staying in, if you're planning on having a new year's toast, there are some apps you may want to download.RU Buzzed and Taxi Magic are two free apps to consider downloading for New Year's Eve.If you're going to party, take someone with you who is a designated driver if you think you're having too much to drink. If you think your friend is having to much to drink, say something, said Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams.It's a night to celebrate while ringing in the new year. With that celebrating comes the midnight toast. If you're planning on taking part, try downloading RU Buzzed. It's an app that calculates your alcohol count and then tells you if you're too drunk to drive.Enter your weight, gender, how long you've been drinking and the amount of alcohol you've consumed. The app assumes one drink is equal to 12 ounces of beer, five ounces of wine or 1.5 ounces of liquor.If you leave and you're totally intoxicated, you're a danger to yourself. You can go to jail whether you're behind that wheel or you are walking, added Sgt. Williams.Don't try to walk home if you've been drinking or had too much. Consider a taxi app service like Taxi Magic. It's free and uses your phone's GPS to find you a ride.Once you've been located, a taxi is dispatched to your and you're on your way.Taxi Finder is a similar app, but will cost you $.99.Officers are going to be very aware of people driving, you know, making sure that there are not people that are impaired and driving, said MPD spokesperson Ashley Rains.Mobile Police Department officers will be out for the MoonPie Over Mobile event.
