Pop-Quiz: Can the State use this evidence?

True or False? If a Defendant is on trial for robbery, evidence that the Defendant has committed numerous previous robberies may be used to prove that they committed the robbery in question.

The answer is False, because Evidence that suggests a person’s character or trait to prove that they acted in accordance with that character or trait on a particular occasion is generally not admissible. This is known as Improper Character Evidence. It looks like 81% of you got that right through our community tab, but did you (point at the screen)? Let us know in the comments.
