BREAKING! John Deere SHUTS DOWN Production In US And Trumps Reaction Says It All!
It was early May two thousand twenty five when the confirmation came. After months of speculation, John Deere publicly announced that it would be relocating part of its manufacturing operations, specifically the production of tractor cabs and compact equipment, to a new fifty-five million dollar facility in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. The plant, scheduled to begin operations in two thousand twenty six, wasn’t just an expansion. It was a redirect. And for workers in Iowa, it was devastating.
In Waterloo, the impact was immediate. One hundred and twelve layoffs were confirmed at the Waterloo Works site. Another seventy-five positions were eliminated in Ottumwa. These weren’t just numbers, they were the livelihoods of skilled American workers, many of whom had spent years, even decades, building the machinery that powers U.S. agriculture. With this latest round of cuts, the total number of Deere job losses in Iowa since early two thousand twenty four had passed one thousand seven hundred. The mood shifted from uncertainty to anger. Local officials called it a blow to regional identity. Union representatives called it unacceptable. But for many, it felt like history repeating itself.
The company defended its decision with clear language. Rising labor costs in the United States, ongoing supply chain disruptions, and increasing global competition had pushed Deere to adapt. The facility in Mexico was presented not as a cost-cutting measure, but as a strategic necessity. The company insisted that less than five percent of its North American production was affected. Large tractors, harvesters, and combines would still be built in Iowa and Illinois. The Mexico plant would focus on compact construction equipment aimed at growing markets in Latin America.
