The Latina Power Pipeline at SXSW 2022

The Latinx community has millions of stories to tell and talented Latinas poised to tell them. But, according to a recent study, only 3 Latinas worked as directors from 2007-2019, and only 7% of films from this period featured a Latinx lead or co-lead. Even with Latinx audiences leading the charge at the box office, representation in front of and behind the camera does not reflect community realities in terms of numbers or growth.
