Florida is set to become the second U.S. state to ban the addition of fluoride in public drinking water. Governor Ron DeSantis announced on May 6 that he plans to sign the Florida Farm Bill (SB 700) into law — a bill that limits certain additives in local water systems, including fluoride.

Joined by Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson and Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, DeSantis made the announcement in Miami, drawing national attention and sharp criticism from public health advocates who argue fluoride plays a key role in dental health.
