Ellie being dumb as rocks and being bailed out by plot armor when Jesse is doing everything to keep them alive and safe only to get shot and killed was infuriating
This episode was a prime example of what people were hating about the show
Jesse babysitting 2 bratty kids just to be shot at the end is crazy, let’s not forgot how lame the journey was in general. Ellie getting mad because Jesse did not want to rescue some random kid then storms off like she was told no by a grown adult is hilarious.
Didn’t even realize that was the finale
I was also disappointed with this finale
Overall, very disappointing Season. A huge step down from the First one.
Trying to save the outnumbered scar kid made zero sense. She's not that stupid & impulsive.
This episode was hard to watch becuase it was so unrealistic. People walk around town out in the open, people can take forever to get places and then teleport. No infected unless it helps the plot in other episodes but none in this one. How can people consistently sneak up on people in places when people are on alert for infected and others fighting this war? So unbelievable unless you want the plot to happen becuase people wrote a horrible story.
All this shit hit 20x’s harder in the game. When Jessie got shot in the game I literally gasped
the writers could not decide what ellies arc is this season, even though they followed the game almost to the letter, and it is written all over the game. ellie is vengeance incarnate, and much more mature and cold-blooded about it, and only during a few human moments (like time with dina or the loss of jesse) she gets pulled out of this tunnel. they set this up in season 1, showing ellie cutting some infected with her knife with some perverse fascination, and back then i thought: yep, this is how she is going to end up, once she loses joel. but no, season 2 does a 180 and paints ellie's arc like some kind of "loss of innocence" type of thing, and how almost "accidental" acts of violents let her lose her naivete and humanity. this also made bellas job incredibly hard, which craig mazin even admits (!) in the podcast for the last episode, because how do you believably switch from being a kinda innocent, 19-year old girl to being the angel of blind revenge within mere seconds. ellies violent, inhuman side is always there and should have been much more fleshed out, this would have made bellas performance much more believable and clear. so we have her torn between this young (at times even portrayed as dumb and supid) little girl and a (half-assed) maniac. to be honest, maybe that is just a gripe people have who played the game, and maybe season 3 (and 4 it seems) will flesh out her descent into madness much more, but i still believe that even for people without any touch points with the game ellie seems un-likeable and stupid in this season. which should not be the case. you have to sympathize with her, because that makes her acts of cold-blooded, calculated violence so much more shocking.
Left out abby somehow found them teleported to them and turned into the hulk in order to take down Tommy ...makes sense lol
Awful season they show writers really dumbed ellie down so much that it was insufferable. The way that dina does basically everything is annoying
ellie being a karen behind enemy lines kills the show
Here's my problem with this season. Ellie is supposed to be completely focused on her quest for revenge. Nothing or no-one else matters. In the game it gets to the point where she gets her horse killed, she abandons Jesse in the search for Tommy and she even scolds and pushes Dina away when she learns of her pregnancy. She has complete tunnel-vision for her vengeance. At some point in the game she comes across an unknown dead body and literally comments "Fucker. You got what you deserved". That's in stark contrast to the the show, where she wants to rescue some kid we dont even know. It seemed completely out of character to me, but captures the issue well. The Ellie we see in the show seems lost, immature and incapable of carrying out the task at hand. She stumbles her way through the events that unfold before her and she does not seem neither fierce or dangerous at all. So the whole arc about her traumatising herself due to the horrible things she does to countless people, well it falls completely on its face simply due to its absense. I also fear that doing these changes, they are undermining the impact of the later part of the story. If she already at this point has doubts about the righteousness of her revenge, how does that support her decision to keep going after Abby, at the several instances later where she has the option not to? And how is the ultimate ending going to be the revelation that is should rightly be? I don't even necessarily agree that Bella is the problem. In this last episode we finally see in some glimpses, that she has the ability to be fierce and tough enough to tell this story. Ellie is supposed to be a "force of nature" strong enough to be THE driving power behind the events of this story. The way this character is written I simply don't buy it, and it ends up taking away from the impact of the story they're trying to tell. Overall I did still enjoy this season, but must admit I'm slightly dissappointed. There are shimmers of light in the show where they improve some aspects. Jesse being fleshed out, seeing more of his motivations and emotions and him pushing back on Ellie is a good example. I also found the dive into the backstories of both Joel and Isaac to be interesting - BUT when there's only 7 episodes of ever reducing runtime, I have no idea how they justify spending the screentime on that, when we are lacking involvement with the main story and character arcs.
They should of made season 3 the second part of S2 released in the second half of the year. This season felt too short and rushed.
The point of Ellie washing up on the shore of the Seraphite colony was to reconcile the fact that she wanted to save one of their kids against all odds. After all, it was the youngest Seraphite child who ordered her death: hanging and disembowelment.
I really felt like the episode was rushed to a stop and not really an end as well as the Ellie going after a chance at Abby rather than going to help Tommy was really unbelievable.
I’m honestly beyond impressed with how accurate the rooms and environment are to the video game, as well as some scenes like when Abby is at the theatre feels exactly like the game. Still what takes away from the show for me is how the writers portray Ellie as simply not that smart and very clumsy. Jesse having to constantly save them for being two bratty teenagers with that lack of survival instinct was bothersome. I’m curious to see how Season 3 will play out Abby’s storyline, it already looks like Lev and Yara will for sure be involved and I liked that storyline in the game
I don't blame bella ramsay..i blame the writers. And I'm saying this as a non gamer who didn't know anything about this.
