@Troilus72

There's a reason why he is called 'The Voice"

@KJs581

Yep, he's "The Voice." Legend. Love it.

@TedRad56

This song was played so loud at my house that all the crockery got chips from shaking so much. Blew up a few speakers too. Thank you for the memories and the goosebumps.❤

@GODEES77

When he recorded this song he was broke and nobody believed in him except a small few. It was recorded in his garage with a synthesiser and a couple people. After one of the takes he said “this song needs bagpipes” and the sound engineer laughed at him and said “okay John it’s your record but I don’t know” for years John compromised his artistic integrity from his 1st manger to band members and he said “if this is my last shot we’re doing it my way and if it crashes it’s on me, but I want to remembered for putting out a record that is me” and aren’t we glad he did it his way and continued to from that point. Anyone reading this should do themselves a favour and watch the new documentary Finding the Voice……goes into detail of his entire career.

@planktonau

John Farnham is a national treasure in Australia not just because of his astounding voice but because he is an amazing human being. Get well John.

@davidkettell5726

The song the arrangement the voice ,it is all John . That is what you call an entertainer ?

@rickmumford9837

Being a 60 year old aussie ive loved his music since he sang One. The distance he holds the microphone away from his mouth shows the strength of his voice.

@JoanneOz

I'm Australian and was in Berlin when the German people smashed the Berlin Wall down with sledgehammers and the two Germanys were reunited. This song was blasting all over the place from ghetto blasters on people's shoulders and the hammer blows rained down to the beat of those bass drums. I have never felt so proud. 'We're not gonna sit in silence, we're not gonna live in fear" had tears streaming 😭 I will never forget it.

@Lynnie_14

I'm an Aussie and would have listened to this song hundreds of times - It never gets old and I always get goosebumps ❤ 🇦🇺

@merrilau

He actually changed the key of the song to incorporate the bagpipes, btw.
This song is Australia’s unofficial national anthem & it never fails to inspire pride & emotion in me. John Farnham voice is a gift to the world & he always brings 110% to every performance. I’ve been a fan for over 40 years.

@jacob.s3619

The 3 backing vocalist you see here are the same 3 he performed with for decades together. John is a class act, master performer, genuine human being and nicest soul.

@japaneseslipperify

I’m an Aussie freelance viola player. I got to play (as part of a string quartet) with John Farnham a number of years ago. Mind blown. One of my favourite playing experiences. Ever. When the bagpipes started, I almost lost my mind.

@Icipher353

John is a living national treasure in Australia. No matter where you go, if this song plays, you will hear people unconsciously singing along.

@shballard

I got his album Whisperin Jack when it came out in the US and no one knew who he was. I knew I was listening to one of the most majestic voices ever in music history. MAJESTIC. That’s the word for his instrument…..

@Smileythesilent

This song will never become irrelevant, it's always poignant, always stirring, and will never age out.

@robinakym2356

Apart from an astounding vocalist, he’s such a great performer. His wife said in an interview about his on stage persona, “I have no idea who that guy is” 😂 like all great performers,something magical happens when the lights hit him

@MartinMcMartin

This song makes you think you can conquer anything, quite an anthem.

@pamharrison8348

John Farnham's family have given the great news that John is clear of cancer. He is not in the public arena but is at home recuperating. He is said to be singing and happy. He is much loved.

@darrenmiller8693

This IS the number 1 selling single off the number 1 album in Aussie music history. I was 20 in 1986 thinking wtf have I just heard, ran out and bought the album. Ahhhh memories

@nellieminnelli

This is our unofficial national anthem. John Farnham is not only one of the best vocalists in the world, he is a brilliant human being and I can guarantee you every single Australian loves him SO much. This song brings me to tears every single time I hear it ❤
