@superaquatics

Excellent information. Thank you for sharing. It is a excellent way to learn from other aquarists how they set up their systems and their experiences. 👍🙏

@laurasutton4057

Such good information being shared. Thanks Kevin 👍

@mexicalifishkeeper

Just enjoying the videos

@geraldoyo1

Thank you for sharing Dr. Novak. We can all learn from each other and I agree about thinking outside the box. Happy Father's Day!

@ΧρηστοςΚαλλιντερης

He s Greek and he s spelled more like Panayiotis, not Panagoitis :D.
Great job to you sir to share your info ! !
Kudos to Panagiotis also, making an FFs like aquarium and a Novak one and compare em, was something that I was really questioned !

Keep up with the good work Dr !

@ctsfiddler

I now have all 3 of my tanks set up with a plenum, all doing well, thanks for the info.

@zwgrafos310

I Just saw the video. I have sent also a mail with the successful experiment to my 120 gallon tank with BCB media bags. Thank you very much for all your help and advice. I wish I have found your channel earlier before I spend money that I didn't need to! An I am from Greece but I live in Bulgaria the last 8 years. As for the loaches, they are Khulie loaches. I have them in both tanks, they don't even go near the snails.

@sushilpadhye3624

Thank you sir for nice video
I have a question can we use stainless steel mesh to make bcb basket

@zzospreyzz55

Just redid my 38g tank with a safe-t-sorb gravel and plenum and a BCB in the canister filter. 2 more tanks (20 and 29) following. Should I reintroduce Malaysian trumpet snails to continuously move substrate or will that hinder anoxic conditions in the plenum?

@4wtsage

Can you use flourite red for a iron source

@draidt

I set up a 29 Gallon tank using your method ( Kitty liter, Florite, Fuval statum, and gravel) about 8 weeks ago, heavily planted, with CO 2, a Seachem Tidal 55 HOB, and a sponge filter, I never saw an ammonia spike or Nitrites, my nitrates run around 10-20ppm, I have 6 Endlers, many Endler fry, 4 Pigmy Corys, 3 otocinclus and 3 Black Neon Tretra's, 2 mystery snails that have doubled in size, I am in the process of adding a Sicce space EKO 200 for more filtration, biomass materials and one container filled with BCB bags to get my nitrates down, I am in the process of setting up a 20 Gallon long exactly the same way. The fish are thriving. Is it possible to never see an ammonia spike with a setup like mine or did I miss it, my Nitates initially were zero so I am fairly certain the tank is now cycled I used Seachem Prime and Fritzyme 7 initially added plants and waited 2 weeks before adding livestock?.

@bubblerings

Hmm. The Father Fish style tank...
It is dirted with at least a two inch sand cap..
Generally, heavily.planted.
And, the Sand is not disturbed, except for plants in the upper inch.
So, the nutrients do not enter the water column.
The letter writer made a huge mistake, which tragically failed.
So sorry to hear that..

@קרןחיון-ו1ש

same thing here
a ff tank
all planted out
about 90 g tank
feeding every 3 days
all i can say is that the fish look very weak, skinny and sick
it is more than a huge fail to me for me, more like a big big disappointment.....
