James Sidis based on a quantum physicist named William James Sidis who taught college courses in his teens, retired to do more mundane work later in life, and died in the 40s

@Gumbocinno

He tells House he fell and broke his ribs years ago, and when he was given painkillers he realized being high is way better than being sober. His "fall" was a suicide attempt. House figured out which ribs it was on his own, turns out he had a ton of accessory spleens that broke off from the fall. Chase had it right early, he just didn't get all of the accessory spleens. He recognizes House as a genius, they sort of have a moment, and House gives him a bottle of DXM.

I know it's because they're props and weren't meant to be looked at closely, but I'm cracking up at the notebook at 4:22 that talks about the "Testecles Theory of Scroidial Pendulic Motion." hell yeah man

@ThePostman97

Can't believe we were out-vicodined by the official YouTube channel.

@TrolltrainForever

I knew a guy with a photgraphic memory that was stoned 24/7 so he wouldn't remember everything.

@joaquimbonazza6686

why didnt he try the medicine drug?

@wmbtech

I had a similar situation. I'm not a genius, but I understand wanting to quell a torrent of thoughts with medication. For me, the manic thoughts came from the constant gaslighting of a narcissist that led to my near-complete mental collapse. Smoking weed made all of it melt away and I could be complacent with everything without questioning my partner. I took that stupid drug for nearly a decade, because if I didn't then I would begin questioning her again. I relate to this because I medicated myself to preserve a relationship that didn't work. I don't smoke anymore, I've accepted the abuse, left that partner, and got therapy to help me grasp everything that happened and move on. My sober self can't find a shred of attraction for that person anymore, but unlike this patient, I wouldn't drug myself again to return to it. Ignorance might be bliss, but complacency with a lie is untenable, and the truth does set you free. This character and I both wanted something that we knew we couldn't have with our wits about us. We settled for delusion over strife. It really gets me in the feels watching this.

@dars5229

Funny, I also use a drug to cure my superior intelligence. It's one part Jack Daniels, two shots of vodka, Drambuie, Four Loko, and a tiny umbrella.

@mushroomfroge6305

Finally, the stupid drug

@icy3-1

Only medicine people try the stupid drug! You are medicine!

@ThePariahDark

This episode got the point wrong. It is like a caricature of intelligence. What, your IQ is over 100, that means you sit at home and draw up plans for superconductors and write programs for ASI on paper? First time I watched this episode I actually agreed with the idea of intelligence being a curse. But I grew up. Intelligence is not a curse, and this episode is trying, and failing, to make that point. Remember, person who reads this comment, a writer in Hollywood cannot write a genius unless they themself are a genius. You cannot write about something you do not understand. For example, he says she is 91 points lower in IQ ... IQ is how fast you understand a problem and find a solution, it is not a metric of "how smart" you are. They completely miss the point.
