Sal's phasing in and out of existance and still manages to update us on ships. Thanks!
Back in the 90's I did a ship rescue from NY Harbor. A ships rudder had fallen off and Moran dispatched the M Moran to go tow it back to NY. I was an AB deck hand at the time. So we went to West Marine and bought a GPS hooked it up and headed for someplace around 4-500 miles west of the Azores. When we finally caught up with it using a single side band radio and our new GPS, It was absolutely beautiful. Not a sea over two feet since leaving NY. As soon as we got the wire on it. It started to blow a hell gale. Almost all the way back we took a beating. The CE an Irishman had to change a powerpac on one of the main EMD engines. How he did it is still a mystery to me, and I was even assisting him. He has since passed and was a very good friend of mine. I haven't thought about that trip in years. Moran doesn't even do ship rescues anymore. I hope everyone is ok on the Maersk ship.
I enjoy your show so much, Sal. π₯° Even when it's awful news, you're an innately joyful person and spread joy without half trying. Thank you! [Edit: I'm not a Bot like the ones below.] β¬οΈ
I DID know about this.. π Decided it wasn't important til Sal said so! π u didn't disappoint, cheers π
Hope the weather is kind to those mariners!!
So do we get to keep the contents in the containers since we rescued the ship?
Thanks for the update, professor. Now i now where my tennis shoes are
Sal, you're always ahead of the game π
Thatβs gonna be one heck of a tug specially out in the ocean. Wonder if it is similar to the ones they use for towing around oil platforms?
What exactly blew up? Oil mist in the main engine crank case? Electrical? Sabotage?
Is he filming this in a engine room? That hum in the backgroung is something else.
I always wondered what Hank Shrader did in his free time
That must be a very powerful tug.
Extra mileage charges likely applied to cargo?
Great news show. Thanks
Poor workers! I expect Maersk will take good care of the injured..
Glad no fatalities. Hope their rescue is as uneventful as possible.
Thanks Sal
The lack of urgency suggests little concern for ship and contents. Hoping for loss settlements ?
