I must admit, dungeon musics were a lot creepier on Oblivion than Skyrim.
I played the hell out of this on 360, then on PC when I built my first rig back in the day, and now playing Remasterd. I can't get enough of Oblivion.
Even as an adult i still feel genuine anxiety in Ayleid ruins the music combined with the surreal visuals where even the stone the dungeon is built from seems to glow with starlight. And the traps with consistent ambushes. The grating shrieks of the metal gates and trap mechanisms. Even with the smaller size and simpler, more repetetive design of oblivions dungeons (god bless zombie guy he's a trooper) its some of the best dungeon dives in gaming history.
"Hey, you hear that? The guards are coming... for you! He he he ha ha ha."
"You... I've seen you.." "Let me see your face." "You are the one from my dreams. Then the stars were right. This is the day. Gods give me strength." What's going on? "Assassins attacked my sons and I am next." "My blades are leading me out of the city along a secret escape route. By chance, the entrance to that escape route leads through your cell." Who are you? "I am your Emperor, Uriel Septim. By the grace of the gods I serve Tamriel as her ruler." "You are a citizen of Tamriel, and you too shall serve her in your own way." Why am I in jail? "Perhaps the Gods have placed you here so that we may meet." "As for what you have done, it does not matter. THAT... is not what you will be remembered for." What should I do? "You will find your own path. Take care, there will be blood and death before the end."
I can't tell just how much I miss playing Oblivion. Exploring the dungeons, soaking up the beautiful countryside etc, it's such a brilliant game. I wish I could play it all over again for the first time
I remember when I beat the game the first time and at the point when Chancellor Ocato started talking to me about how there's uncertain times for the future of the Empire the last creepiest part of 'Wind from the Depths' played right on cue, it was very fitting.
Oblivion had the best dungeon music, ambience, and most creepy vibe and atmosphere in the series.
Just got done doing the Saints and Seducer quest in Skyrim and walking into those sewers and hearing this lovely sound....almost enough to make a grown man cry
Man I remember being a little kid getting âthe chillsâ and âgoose bumpsâ funneling my way through each turn awaiting anything to jump out at any moment. One thing for certain, The music didnât make me feel anymore comfortable
Must have been 13 years old when I got this game, remember the older computer i had would struggle to keep up with the fps. Ill never forget the first time I exited the sewer in the beggining of the game and that amazing scenery that was displayed, the most beautiful thing i ever seen.
Man, the dungeons in this game...they just felt so eerie compared to Skyrim. Don't get me wrong, Skyrim is an amazing and incredible game and I really enjoy a lot of the dungeon exploration in it. But there's just something about the dungeons in Oblivion...like the ones beneath the city, it feels so isolated from the rest of the game and the atmosphere is spooky and unsettling. You truly felt so distanced and far away from the rest of the gameworld above you, like if you were to die down there, nobody would ever find you...
Oblivion's dungeons were truly something to fear
I love how these tracks use mostly synths when the rest of the soundtrack is more orchestral, gives it an otherworldly feel
Falling asleep to this video difficulty: Master
I still remember these times, times were a lot simpler. Oblivion was everything but also nothing. When you needed a break from it all oblivion would always be there.
Even though this is just a loop of 5 songs it manages to not feel repetitive at all, oblivion soundtrack aged really well and i always come back for more
From late 90s to mid 2000s it felt like every game had this dark and gritty atmosphere about it that's since been lost.
