I have just had microdiscectomy on my l5 disc and s1 nerve root. I have had severe pain/numbness/ tingling sensations down the whole of my left leg and left foot for the past 9 months. When i woke up from the anaesthetic, i was able to walk around the ward absolutely pain free. I have minor pain at the incision site. It is going to be a tough next few month's with regards to recovery etc , but i have read so many posts and threads on this operation. some negative and some positive. I was completely on the fence with it but i think it comes down to individual themselves, and for me it has been worth it so far , yes it is early days but before surgery i couldnt sit, walk, sleep, lay down. The pain was excruciating. The truth is, once you have a back injury, you always have a back injury. But you can learn to manage it. Tell your kids to treat there spine like a piece glass. But in my opinion, wether this operation is beneficial and worth doing, is COMPLETELY down to the individual.

2015-ben ezzel a problémával műtöttek. Lebénultam és újra kellett tanulnom járni. Vigyázzatok magatokra!

This short explores the #anatomy behind lumbar disc prolapse, highlighting how it can lead to nerve root impingement and #sciatic #pain. Watch as we trace the pain pathway down the sciatic nerve and learn what causes that familiar lower back pain and leg discomfort.

Ways to Manage:
- Physical therapy for strengthening and mobility
- Anti-inflammatory medications for pain relief
- Lifestyle modifications, including weight management and posture improvement
- Epidural steroid injections to reduce inflammation
- Surgery as a last resort in severe cases

Every time there is a sciatic nerve pain flare it takes weeks or months to get back to be “normal”. I have been dealing with this terrible pain since forever but not until recently that o don’t see any consistent improvement however, I do practice specific exercises to help me feel better but any stupid wrong movement can put me back to where I started either the pain. I refuse to be inmoble or to become miserable either this pain so I take it one day at a time. Breathing, meditating or praying and my own physical therapy (learned throughout the many PT I have been prescribed by my doctors) so as soon as I feel the dam pinched nerve I take a deep breath and with the pain on it most I start moving to decompress the nerve. This allows me to not let it keep progressing. Having said that, there will always be a certain amount of pain due to disc degenerative disease which is very common on every single person but not everyone feels pain. So I am sorry for those that are in the percentage of people who actually have to live with this condition
