Just bought this instead of buying the switch 2, which would’ve been my first switch. Now, I can play all of my favorite games without someday probably paying a streaming subscription for GameCube via Nintendo switch online.
The new Turip drivers are crushing it. They merged the Gen 3 into it a week ago.
I'm quite surprised by the amount of people who think a SD GEN 2 Handheld with a OLED screen should be cheaper than it already is. If you think $329.00 is too expensive you have bigger issues on hand.
So awesome! Can't wait to get mine. As usual, your videos are vrey informative and high quality, ETA. Thanks for doing all of this for us!
Awesome video, thank you! My black Portal Pro, grip cover and thumb sticks arrived last month after pre ordering mid February. Holy worth the wait. I can't stop playing it. It's the most perfect hand held I've ever played, especially with the grip cover and upgraded thumb sticks. I have an SD card that never leaves the slot with 470 of my all time favorite PS2 games and they've never looked or played better. The 7" bezel free 120hz OLED screen is out of world. The Portal does everything I'll ever want or need a hand to do. So glad to have scored one.
I have an Odin 2 Pro Rainbow variant and love everything about it...except for its very dull and dated 6" IPS bezel screen. That screen looks 15 years old when compared side by side with the bezel free AMOLED screen of an RP5 or similar AMOLED device. Once you see the massive difference in brightness, color and picture quality you just can't unsee it. Ordered the black Portal Pro mid February and it just arrived last week along with the grip cover and upgraded AYN thumb sticks. The Portal is phenomenal, but the grip cover is a must have accessory that makes the Portal feel so perfect in hand that its never coming off. The controls and control layout are even better than the Odin 2, and I just can't get over how drop dead gorgeous the 7" bezel free 120hz AMOLED screen looks in person. My game library has never looked or played better. The Portal has become my one Grail device to rule them all. It's such a thrill to play and offers the most immersive hand held gaming experience I've ever had. My upgrade race and chase is over. I'm so blown away and so happy with the Portal that it'll be years before I upgrade again. The Portal really is that amazing. Thanks for the great video.
I am proud owner of the odin 2 pro and if I knew about the portal I would have waited for sure. It is an amazing piece of hardware.
Its a slick little device that cant be denied. Wish they could fit an amd chip in there
I have the portal and it’s worth every penny. If I had to choose between this and a steam deck oled, regardless of price, I would pick this device every time
picking up this bad boy my next check. Gonna be my first android handheld
That 120 Hz screen is perfect for BFI. I wonder if the Android version of RetroArch has the new CRT simulation shader by Blur Busters.
Waiting on my order now good time to buy
A high-end gaming pc connected to my 4K TV and an RG405M serve all my gaming needs. I'd love to see a Steam Deck clone with x86 cpu at that price point.
The ONLY issue with this device is that once you go past the Early Bird prices, the Portal becomes as expensive as a Steam Deck, which will play everything that this thing plays and more with the exception of Android games. The Portal does have a far-superior screen and D-Pad to the Deck, but the Deck is infinitely more customizable and comes with its own case. Not to mention there's a massive Deck community if anything goes awry with it.
The lower end model seems like a pretty good deal, but the max model is way too close to Steam Deck Oled territory
Thank you for your video it really helped me understand the device Thai ordered!!this one , now can do like higher end emulation! Switch, GameCube, ps3 Nintendo u!!
I ordered the Portal pro 2 weeks ago and figured I'd be able to run some Switch games and maybe Fallout 3 or NV, but seeing the gen 2 run Fallout 4 at almost 60 frames is way more performance than I thought I was getting
Great first impressions video. Can't wait to get my hands on one!
I'm probably going to get one of these. Emulation is where it's at and I'm hoping that this gets good support for years to come.
