Poll: Best rock band during the 80s era?

@nannettefreeman7331

I worked in “the industry” for 20 years, & the guys in Ratt were the most genuinely nice guys I ever met. They were equal parts astonished & grateful for their success, just happy that people enjoyed their music & for the opportunity to play it.

And they STAYED that way! Most based band to come out of that whole scene, hands down! 🤘🏼

@schmidington

RATT is a constant fixture in my top list of favorite bands. Thank you so much for covering them. R.I.P. King Crosby.

@CommercialForest

Rock has no shortage of sad endings but Robbin’s demise is particularly depressing.

@SchizoAction

Those early 80s hair metal bands were the best man! I was only like 8 or 9 years old at the time but I clearly remember driving by the gas station next to the high school, and there would be a bunch of older kids with the long hair, the ripped jeans, the sunglasses, and the Ratt or Motley Crue tshirts, just hanging out, smoking cigarettes, and blasting music from a car stereo. I remember I was always a little scared of them as a child, but at the same time..intrigued.

@Thatguy55595

Make a pt 2 about the rest of their career!! Would love to see that

@yvettevitacaponigro

I still have my RATT vinyls ! Thank you for the post! ✌🏼😊

@Thatguy55595

Ratt is awesome!! Round and Round and Lay it Down are timeless records! Amazing guitar

@bradfiegehen7092

My first concert was April 1984 at Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
I was 17.
Ratt opened up for Ozzy's Bark at The Moom Tour.
It was epic, and the concerts never stopped.
What a great time to grow up.
Kids today who enjoy this music have no idea how blessed we were to see these bands in their prime live.
If I could only go back for a month, I would be greatful.
I was blessed indeed.
God bless all.

@Xeo7

I love Ratt. They had some damn great hooks and riffs in general. Still spin them in my playlist regularly.

@sillymanblues

Man, you're traveling through my wheelhouse! The Whisky! Can't shorten this story. In high school from '75 thru '78 and a friend came up to me and said "Hey! You gotta hear these guys. Van Halen. At the Whisky. $5.00 a ticket. Wanna go?" Duh! We must've been sitting near Pearcy at the time as EVH blew us away! Saw them again at the Starwood in Hollywood the following year. This all happened just before their debut album hit the airwaves and took off! Fast forward to Ratt. Local Licks! An actual EP that also included Tell The World and a cover of Walkin' The Dog. Heavy duty. I remember buying it at Tower Records for like $3 bucks and wore it out. After I graduated high school I went to broadcasting school and eventually landed a gig in '82 as a DJ at a small market, hard rock/heavy metal station, KCME in Simi Valley, Ca. Turned out that Steve Pearcy lived in Simi and called the request line frequently to find out what went on the docket for Metal Shop, a syndicated one hour heavy metal based program pressed on vinyl. We got to talking and connected the dots on the Whisky and The Roxy and Gazzarri’s on the Strip. Yeah, good times. When Out of The Cellar came out, it did some major damage on the AOR charts. Round And Round became a staple as well as "Uncle Milty" on the video, not to mention the rest of the LP. Not a bad song on it. The band would call the station while working on Invasion Your Privacy, which they recorded in Chatsworth, a neighborhood located in the northwest end of the San Fernando Valley. Rock N' Roll True Stories! Thanks again for posting. 🤘😎🤘

When I was in HS, I remember being on a bus coming home from a baseball game and one of my teammates had a boom box and he put Ratt on. That was my first time of listen to them. Every since then I still listen to Ratt and I'm in my 50s.

@SteveG-f1e

For my 13th birthday, in 1987, my mother took me to see Ratt/Poison at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland Maine.

@kellypeterson2625

What a great discussion from a couple people I really respect!

@stormchaser419

The guitar heavy riffs were so prominent back then. Can you imagine though seeing VH in their early days??!! That must have been eye opening. VH ruled the world from 1977 to 1984 in my opinion. Dokken and Ratt seemed to follow a somewhat similar formula but all these acts were just so good with guitar work.

@shawnroberts5634

I haven't been noticing any notifications but luckily it seems like your video is in the top three of my feed at some point in the day every time you release a new one.

@luftwaffe6521

I remember rollin through the Rocky Mountains in 86 while in the Air Force jamming to my Out of the Cellar cassette. Great memories come back when I hear any of their songs. Ratt and Roll 8191 was the first cd I ever purchased. Love Ratt.

@bernardquasaar1254

Milton Berle doing the video was 100% classy thing for him to do. Awesome when two different generations get together like that

@DukesMusic84

Stephen Pearcy is still out there kicking ass, they just did the 40th for Ratt Out of the Cellar. Saw an interview with him last week on Professor of Rock

@marknroses

Criminally underrated 80s rock band. Could have kept making great music well into the 90s as well
