damn u made me rethink what handheld i would buy
I use this connected to a monitor and eGPU at home, but carry it in to dock with projectors at work and for gaming on flights (and in break time). It is so useful and has more than paid for itself in all the situations I need a computer for.
The GPD 4 is not ready yet, the developers need more time for lacking issues like screen quality, higher refresh rates, weight, battery life etc. I will definitely wait for the final/perfect release without these minor problems, but this little giant is for sure on my wishlist.
i want it bc it’s a “portable” console that’s actually portable. and it doesn’t scream “mug me” when using it in public
If there was truly a all in one machine, this is it. Small enough to still be pocketable, large enough to still give a decent gaming experience, powerful enough to run all the new games coming out. All I need is this and a GPU dock, a monitor, keyboard and mouse at home. The only thing I wish they would start making is a laptop dock with a monitor, keyboard, trackpad and some extra battery. Then I can actually just get rid of everything and just have this one main device.
i know its expensive but....i think i need it
Seems like the size is almost similar to PSP, which I think the perfect size for a portable console ❤
This without the sliding screen would be perfect.
I respect this guy for having his own opinion. Not just the majority concensus
i would purchase it immediately if the battery is 60w, 70w
Seems perfect for me! Is it about the same size as the Switch Lite? I have the ASUS ROG Ally, which seems to be made for man hands only.
From what i can see only battery price Oled screen and thickness is an issue with this device to make it perfect.
I've had the og version, used it as my main desktop for 7 months hooked up to a 27" touchscreen monitor, minimal mechanical keyboard and a trackball. Mind you it'd have a conniption fit with two touchscreens, don't even get me started when I hooked up the clumsy K2, holy identity crisis! lol! This is after I mistakenly bought the 1Netbook OneGx1 Pro, they just about killed my belief and trust in other companies, but after reselling that and buying the Win4, when I saw a Wine for $275 I bought it as well to resale, then I tried the GPD XP Android, kept just the Win4, it's bios and recovery mode is much much more user friendly than companies like 1Netbook.
Can you play higher than 720p now?
LGR just reviewed a Minisforum box with the same APU, and it even ran FS2024 with the IGPU reasonably well. The GPD has Oculink, so this would be one killer machine. I am thinking of dual-booting, Win 11 with eGPU for VR stuff and Bazzite for the rest, which would be mainly emulation for me, and having everything on the go except for VR. When headsets with large viewing angles eventually drop in price, I might upgrade.
i learn that the smaller the screen is the shit I cant see.
Even these current 7inch handheld would be better if the controls are detachable, for when you just need a tablet for browsing, easier to travel with etc.
Have one and take it with me everywhere.
This video is probably what sold me. For me my favorite handheld design was always the psp vita and I'm been debating if I wanted to buy this mostly just for my steam back log. The price tag does still hurt me though. The steam deck is nice but it's to big for pocket gaming. Which is what I believe true hand held gaming should be. The Switch is nice but just slightly to big for complete confront.
