IT PAINS ME TO NO END how this Franchise couldn't ever get the push that it desperately deserves....!!! The Anime AND the AX games were FIRE!!!
It's a crime Metabots didn't have the staying power. It was a beautiful time to be a Bot-battler!
Phantom Renegade: "LOOK IT'S THE PHANTOM RENEGADE!" Rubbo Robos: WHERE!!!!
Always enjoyed how Metabee and Ikki are less friends and more like brothers unlike most Metabots who are at best loyal buddies for their fighters. Ikki and Metabee however regularly but heads with each other, insult each other, fight each other and generally are honest with each other. It's what makes their relationship enjoyable as they genuinely care for each other and the snapping at each other is similar to how siblings act.
I've always loved metabots so I'm glad to see it wasn't just a fever dream. Also that theme will always slap
The referee most likely has his own version of spider sense and always knows when someone is of need for him.🐱
Hasbro actually released a bunch of Model Kits for the series in the West that fully replicated the gimmick of the series as in you started with an inner frame and had to build onto said frame all of the respective parts. Was even cross compatible with other Kits the the same line since I remember getting both the Rokusho and Metabee kits when I was younger and smashing one of Metabee's guns onto Rokusho. Even got the Metabee's inner plastic shell signed by Metabee's English Voice Actor back in the day.
In the Netherlands Medabots was as big as pokemon when it came to hype, but it didn't translate to the amount of merchandise it needed to ground itself sadly. Such a great series it was..
Referee made this show the best, how does he appear anywhere. If there was only a can near by in a fight about to happen, i wouldnt be surpised if he appeared out of it lol
Medabots, RO- BATTLE! This was a nice trip down memory lane being reminded how i enjoyed Medabots as a kid. Its a shame i didn't know that Medabots continued and was never released over here, its nice that its still around in some way.
For chrisrmas my parents got me the 2? or 3? foot tall medabee 'action figure' And it was glorious, full sfx and voice lines, the same backside storage space for the medal, very posable for a figure of that size and time period I took it to school with me many times cause i loved it so much Its a real shame this series wasnt promoted more, or hasnt had a reboot in quite some time, as the idea is extremly good, mix and matching robot parts was fun back then with the toys we had. I imagine itd be even better now with how far toys have come.
That ref always makes me think of the zoids anime from around the same time that would orbitally drop a ref bot for a match. Looking between the two, I think the ref from Medabots had better attendance. He certainly had the better entrances.
Saturday mornings on Fox Kid's weren't complete without this show.
Seeing Metabee use Medaforce in the anime, to this day, still gives me that childlike wonder and awe It's not to the level of "seeing super saiyan for the first time" but for me as a kid, it was damn close Metabee really does rock ♡♡
I only know about this show because one time my grandma got me two dvds that had the entire first season. She had no idea what it was, i had no idea what it was. But it seemed close enough to pokemon/digimon/yugioh/bakugan/you get the point that she got it... and i am incredibly thankful
LBX was like the indirect sucessor to medabots since it attempt to take a foothold in the west.... just that LBX series was like taking serious up to 11 like using Toy robots for TerRoRiSmm and WarFaReee!!!
How could kids in the west hate a show about kids buying robots with machine guns, missiles, and flamethrowers. And then fighting them in the streets. It has everything!!
What in the seven hells did i just witness? This is truly an anime of its time period. Thanks for uh, showing me the madness that you grew up with Kamen. Let's hope the fans will Get to roll out again one day.
Natsume holding on to the Harvest Moon trademark (apparently they didn't care enough about Rune Factory) didn't stop Marvelous from publishing Harvest Moon as Story of Seasons in the west under their XSEED subsidary. Sounds more like the lawsuit was the problem, not losing the trademark.
