this should be renamed to ‘briefly explaining the names of most animal crossing villagers’
I earnestly watched the whole video and I'm saddened that this feels rushed

This video is less 'lore' and more, the trivia behind their name Genji is a reference to Genji from the tale of Genji. Boomer most likely comes from the fact that he wears a bomber jacket. A jacket that fighter pilots often wear. Also, Muffy's head peace isn't an 'ear muff' its a rectangle headdress used in Lolita fashion. A fashion from Japan often called 'gothic lolita' as gothic is a substyle of it. Lolita has a lot of frills hence her Japanese name. Not sure about her english name tho.
Im disappointed how little information this had! I assumed you would've done a deep dive on the lore of the villagers.. there catchphrases, their homes, there little loading screens in pocketcamp, their April Fools info.. but it was a bit more barebones.
describing this as a "lore" video is definitely a ...choice when most of these are just name origins (and even those aren't fully researched/explained even though there's information widely available like with coco) and some occasional hobbies. not to mention the inconsistency with wanting to pronounce only some non-english words accurately and mostly disregarding the pronunciation for Japanese words😵💫 this video is good for the basic information for each villager but definitely not a lore video lol
Just what I needed, a super long video for background noise while i redecorate my animal crossing house. God bless you🙏
Australian here, we pronounce Melbourne as Mel-bn and Canberra as Can-bruh. we just can't be fucked with all those vowels
Hi, so I started ranting (to myself in my room) about some info on a couple of villagers you have just breezed by, whom I love so deeply, and figured that I should post that stuff here. This is all based on cultural stuff like legends and motifs: So Margi (yes, the western translators spelled it like a western name) much like Sari is a Hindu word, it means Traveler. It is also a feminine name. Name aside, her colors have some meaning, Margie is a white elephant, which are a rare thing in the wild, much like most animals with albinism. In Hindu and Indian lore however, white elephants are seen as sacred and they are a symbol of wisdom and fertility. The markings on Margie are a nod to the textiles that would adorn elephants during festivals and being presented to royalty. The limb markings are meant to look like bangles. The rich red and golden mustard yellow are 2 colors that show up EVERYWHERE in South Asian motifs, from wedding dresses called iehengas to kitchen walls. So in conclusion, Margie is much more than just a tea pot looking elephant. Second animal you brushed over, Gladys (get ready for Deja Vu, cuz i have explained this before on this channel). Gladys is a weaver, and there is a very famous and well loved story about a man who falls in love with a crane disguised as a woman. They get married and she sets a rule that he must not bother her while she is in her room weaving and making clothes. So he agreed and for several years they are happy, selling the clothes the wife makes. But gradually, the wife becomes sick and grows weak, but still she makes the clothes. The husband, worried about his wife's health, looks for the cause of her illness. And soon enough he discovered the cause, you see, he witnessed how his wife made the clothes. She would pluck her feathers and incorporate them into the silky fabric. The husband was horrified and ordered her to stop what she was doing, but it was too late, she was already very close to death. The husband held his wife in his arms, and she revealed her true form to him; a beautiful white crane, with large bald patches where once there was feathers. With her last breath, she scolds him for breaking his promise and she passes on, leaving him in tears.
forgetting Punchy is a crime
59:12 Paolo being a figment of peoples imagination is a reference to "seeing pink elephants", a euphemism for someone being on drugs/ heavily drunk and hallucinating.
PLEASE PUT TIMESTAMPS!! I'M LOOKING FOR MY FAVS!!
31:41 As someone who grew up in a Christian environment, this guy's name might be a sort of ironic reference to the biblical tale of Samson, who was supposed to be extremely strong, while this villager is. well. a mouse
I'm pretty sure Sue E is supposed to be named after a pig call, idk if anyone did this irl before it got popularized but sometimes farmers in shows and movies will go "soo-eeeeey! pig pig pig pig pig!" to call the pigs for mealtimes or any other reason you'd need to call pigs hehe. Also completely unrelated, I remember when I had Lucha in New Leaf I'd always call him Strong Bird, in reference to Strong Bad, since that was the first character I saw who wore a luchador mask (or in SB's case, had a face made from a luchador mask). He and Fang ended up getting along really well in my town and uh... they ended up being the subjects of my first gay ship outside of characters from my original works XD
Sasha is unisex name in Russia, so I think that his whole thing
I'm surprised there was no mention of Bob being the first villager ever made, which is why his birthday is on January 1st.
Lore? Research? None of it is here.
No timestamps, not in alphabetical/species order, and barebones info. You honestly could have made this into several videos over time and taken more time for each villager.
