I originally went to Best Buy for an Ally but when I saw the size difference in person, the Legion Go was a no brainer.
Had my legion go for almost a year now, being able to take it to a hotel and play actual competitive titles with the 144hz screen has been amazing.
I went with the legion go because removable controllers. Can be turned into a wicked powerful tablet. Clear winner for me.
Had both and the screen on the LeGo won me over plus all the updates have truly made it so much better
I went with LeGo because of screen size as well as aspect ratio. 16:10 is great for emulator because it offers more vertical space for 4:3 retro games. The black bars on 16:9 games aren't a big deal on an 8.8" screen as they are on a 7" screen.
i had the original ally and the legion go. in the beginning it liked the ally more but the go had grown on me with every update and i cant go to the ally anymore because of the smaller and less colourfull screen. i really hope that levono brings out a second go next year
Legion go is severely under rated. The display is phenomenal and the detachable sticks is a joy to use.
Had my Legion Go since launch, took several months of faffing with settings and updates. It's finally becoming a console like experience. Boots straight into Playnite without Windows login, hibernates when power button tapped and starts back into the game when turned on. The Ally X is intriguing but for what it's worth, I'll be waiting for next gen handlehelds that come with Strix Point RDNA 3.5 Radeon 880M APU's.
I chose the Legion Go, I love the Ally x for its VRR, more ram and battery, but I think those last two features especially the battery should have been implemented in the normal Ally, I feel that the Ally X is a kind of “Ally pro” like other console companies do, correcting small things and charging 400 usd more I don't see the point, but if you keep the same z1 processor no matter how much ram you use the performance difference is not that big and the last updates of the Legion have left it very well refined playing Baldurs Gate on high at 1000p between 45/55 fps at 25w and not even reaching 65c is beautiful. Update: By mistake I saw the price in euros and did not realize, if you do not have any the purchase is worth it, the difference with the normal Z1 extreme are at this time 100 usd, but I would not make the leap or in my case I have the legion, I do not see sense to change, if they put a slightly larger screen without doubt if I would, or I would have waited to buy this one
Went for the legion go. I play fighting games mostly so I never really need to push higher framerates than 60, which generally allows me to run full resolution and really take advantage of the screen size difference. And since I'm usually connecting a fightstick, I just take the controllers off and use the touchscreen to launch games, making it a lot less bulky. Can also adjust how much memory is reserved for games in the bios, which helps narrow that small performance gap, since I'm generally not multitasking and disable a lot of default windows functions.
Legion Go for me as i already have one no need in buying another expensive handheld
I want to get the Ally X as a previous owner of the original Ally. However since buying the GO I feel like the screen size has spoiled me and I have a hard time going back to smaller screens eg when using my SD Oled. Don’t really care about the resolution as I don’t need it at this size but handheld gaming is so much better at 8.8-9 inches as compared to 7 inches, not to mention how much easier it is to navigate windows.
I'm with my Go for almost a year now and it still worth it. Basically the idea is so good that with some modification and improvement, no ally or aya or whatever could beat it. But right now buying the Go is not a wise choice. Better to wait for the Legion Went and maybe the Legion Gone. Again, the Go is almost perfect...
Here in Greece, Lenovo Legion Go 1Tb is at 900€ to 980€. I wanted to get one because of the larger display, but the price is insane for a device that I'd probably use only for WoW.
So, for more demanding titles I really enjoy how 720p scales on the legion go's 1440p screen. It looks very sharp at that pixel density and similar to a steam deck
I choose legion go for traveling because size matters and both systems can’t survive a 5hr flight without a battery brick.
Honest review, thank you sir!
Damn Matthew, gotta say you look great for 97! It must be because our city's amazing AQI.
I got my X yesterday, sold my OG Ally, so far great experience
