@rnrtruestories

Yay or nay on what John Varvatos did with the space?

@gentlemanbirdlake

I am proud and honored to have played a gig there in my lifetime

@MarshalTennerWinter

I played at CBGBs once in the 90s. 7 people were in the audience including the soundman and bartender,

@GummyBearWA

I've played CBGBs many times with various bands. That smell would hit you the moment you walked in. It was the smell of rock & roll.

@anthonyaiello4343

Oh CBs, how we miss you. Spent so many nights there seeing SO many bands btwn the late '90s and its closing. (My wife is Blondie's lawyer and did the deal for DH's book that you mention.)

@bciecko1

I worked at a small place called Satellite records in 2001, processing internet orders in the evenings. it was across the street from CBGB. I used to walk past it every day.

@seb1.5

My dad played in his band at CBGB in the 2000’s he met some of the Ramones at the shows he played there

@baronhelius4596

Played there many times in the 80s. Made many friends, many girlfriends and lots of laughs. Will remember it forever. Plus it had one of the best sound systems in NYC!

@JohnEuliss

I would have been honored to have been to this punk rock mecca. I could just imagine the vibe at this place. The walls would be saturated with the aura of the shows that went on here.

@chrisxshock

Playing here was always fun! I saw so many great bands and shows here. So many stage dives, high fives, and memories of just shredding around the city an hitting a show! Kids today won't ever understand what that was like!

@mattmcdowell5225

LOVE that you did this story.
Managed to see just ONE show there. About a year before they closed the doors permanently.
And I'm still convinced that Grunge would have never existed without Punk breaking the ground for it 20 years earlier.

@daciuk8

Came over from the UK and played there in 1979 rough old place then but a great vibeπŸ‘πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‘

@LonniDelane

I will for SURE be voting this my fave vid of the week. Hard to top this.

@HolyShnikeez_1975

Never been there but I did see the movie lol. Alan Rickman did a great job portraying Hilly Kristal imo. RIP to Alan, Hilly, and CBGB.

@1ssjesus

The film may have been a flop but it's one of my personal favorite movies. Just like Death Proof is.

@lee-daniels

Those buying $100 T-shirts and $2,000 jackets probably aren't fans of music. The bands that played that venue would've railed against those merchants.

@cet777

Great video yet again. Thanks for your channel man!🀘🏼😎

@shafiqjan1474

Sunday show were known as the "Hardcore Matinee". They were always epic.

@davidbindert

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to see a show there (I think it was 1993). Die Monster Die, Truth, Grimskunk and two other bands played. And yes, I did use that bathroom.

@1000poundsguitar

Cosmo Ohms was the soundguy there for a long time. He was later the sound guy at Tobacco Road in Miami. Great dude.
