Personally I think hypno shroom’s reason for controlling crazy Dave and making all these plant mutations is either A) he has beef with crazy Dave AND Zomboss. Or B) he finally realised his whole purpose is to be eaten so he decides to take over the leader of the plant’s body.

Here's something that may help put this seiries together a wee bit more. During the events of PVZ GW2, it's shown that zomboss has a factory that produces those mechs, which is why there are so many of them.

The plant-headed zombies are in an actual game mode called Zombotany, which... in hindsight, there is plenty of room for body horror there. It's literally zombies with various plants for heads.

16:02 my guy, you dont know but THAT zombie is GENUINELY a menace in the Chinese version of rhe game THAT zombie has the strength of a gargantuan and thespeed of a football zombie, though for some reason its only available in rhe chinese version

On one hand I want to believe the zombies are just people wearing burlap which gives them that dark shade of skin in the plants perspective but on the other hand I want to believe there still zombies and are growing new flesh underneath the rotting one creating a deadpool like situation where the cancer stops his regeneration from creating tumours. The gargantua has an extra head growing out of its shoulder in the plants perspective which is the imp so zomboss could’ve experimented with the regeneration a little and succeeded in the gargantua and imp growth. The zombies could be semi mindless only gaining enough intelligence To briefly become self aware after the consumption of brains, when the zombies win and eat your brain you scream no but what if it was the zombies screaming after realising what they did?.
