Whoever makes these, even if it were a single individual, thank you for the hard work.

@HapitokP

My grandfather(May he rest in peace) was part of the first wave of US forces to storm Omaha Beach as a US Army Combat Engineer. He told me as soon as his squad made it onto the beach, it was absolutely chaotic. His squad's task was to make sure the path from the beach into the hillside of Normandy was clear of obstacles, sadly he and his squad were not able to get this done. He ended up taking a MG 42 round to his left thigh as his squad was charging up to the rally point. He told me he couldn't move as he was in great pain, but he described that as he was slowly losing consciousness he clearly remember the smell of the sea mixed with so much blood and the screams of so many men dying. He was rescued and shipped back to England for recovery and as the stubborn he was, he got back to the war zone about a few weeks ahead of when he was expected to fully recovery from his gunshot wound on his thigh. He then went on to be part of the Combat Engineer squads that helped the 101st Airborne in the Battle of the Bulge(Yes, he did indeed fight alongside Easy Company). He used to smile when he told me they were some of the most hardened soldiers he ever encountered but deeply respected them. Now about two hours into the battle, he took bullet to his right shoulder not too far from the Command Foxhole as he put it. Now he asked the Medic to just plug the hole in his shoulder to keep fighting which the Medic did. After the battle ended, my Grandfather was shipped back to England once again and after he was fully recovered, he went back to the warzone. He told me that nothing too exciting happened to him after he got back there, although he did show off this Lugar he got from a German Officer which I still have to this day. I will always show greatest respect to those who fought in World War 2, especially my grandfather~

My great grandfather was on one of the beaches of Normandy, and we never knew until after he had passed away. He was very proud of his service but he didn’t talk about what he did there and I cannot say I blame him. He helped America stop an awful genocide.

@RS-bu1vz

Gonna have to side with what other people have already stated below;

This is a seriously high quality documentary. My brother in law and me both watch this channel and also others like dark docs/skies etc and spend hours discussing them, it's taught us so much! Also knowing that these channels really put effort into their research before they release anything is amazing.

Keep up the great work!

@MGAFFY

I couldn't even imagine how long it must have taken you to put all this together. Great job man, this is seriously quality content that could be aired on the History channel

@rayanne1136

My great grandfather was part of the US Navy during world war II. They were near Japan on a ship and were attacked via air by the Japanese. I was told by family that the ship caught fire and that my great grandfather saved a crewman's life, getting his entire back severely burned from the fires. He came back from the war and joined the police force becoming an undecover investigator, became mayor of his city, and has a building named after him. He died just a few months after I was born, but I feel close to him for some reason. If I were to meet him today I don't think I would be shy with him at all. I'm proud to be his great granddaughter.

@nomo4u886

Respect to the last of our fellow veterans who are still alive. Still can't believe they went through all of this & fought for the safety of our country. Such epic stories left behind from WW2

@sarveshdwivedi3222

@joeten4817

@RonFilco.9358

I'll never get sick of these documentaries, I've seen so many and it's amazing how you still learn something in each one and how the insights have gotten so detailed. It shows the utter scale of the conflict.

@ninamariehart4357

My Grandpa Bob was a medic in the 99th infinity for the battle of the bulge getting 2 purple hearts and a bronze star and Grandma Betty was an army nurse in the pacific theater. And yep, they met at the VA here in Chicago. ❤️ So proud of my family. If could have, I wanted to be a medic in the army just like him. 🇮🇪 🇺🇲

@punkbelleable

My grandma survived the WWII and told me about her experience. She’s now 92 years old 😃

Edit: She passed away in June 2021.

@RobinK

I rarely comment anything on YouTube, but I can't help acknowledge your magnificent work on this video. I'm sure it took dedication, time and effort to make this what it is now, a masterpiece. Top5s is my favorite channel and that won't be changing, anytime soon. I'm sure you'll continue creating fantastic content, as I wouldn't expect anything else.

@jacklyngraham3092

@edwardigans1935

Really wish I had content like this when learning about history back in school. People could even now cite you as a source!

@gdog5514

Why did I learn more from this video then in 3 years of school?

@themidwestbarber8428

My gpa was a sergeant in WWII. He never spoke of it-but when he passed, my mom found a letter from the secretary of war in his safe. It said, In commemoration and assisting in the assembly of the Atomic Bomb.

He never once spoke of it…
