@WanderingTayson

Theres also the interpretation that dark link from water temple: is the fears and rejection of his duty out of sheer frustration from the pressure. Link has been thrusted into this massive journey without no one ever considering what he felt about it - the water temple reflects back this to link in dark link. And link defeating this enemy, represents link getting over these feelings and accepting his duty entirely

@FT-vg9mj

That Dark Link fight from the Water Temple was one of the coolest and scariest surprises for me when I first played through the game.

@JamesPolitician

I always kinda assumed dark link was link fighting his darkness and shadow link was what he could become idk

@alejandrocuevas3858

I’ve always loved how the manga handled dark link, he always represented the darkness and insecurities link had and had to overcome and it always had link grow after the encounter

@zsck

I always liked the interpretation that the original Hyrule Warriors had about this entity, being Link's ego, which at that point in the story was evident. Fighting that ego to overcome it and become a true hero is something that I liked.

@codyarmstrong8428

I always assmued the water temple "dark link" was just a reflection of the potential evil in his heart. Theoretically, anyone who entered the water temple and got to that room would face a dark version of themselves.

@thekrauserlols4611

Cant recall if it was a theory or something in the lore but remember reading about Dark Link, in OoT, being a creation of the Water Temple, because it was a trial for all Zora to conquer themselves.
You know before the temple was cursed by Gannondorf

@KingGotBlocked

The link from 4 swords was kinda peak in the manga book thing i read. Cuz apprearently theres a manga of twilight,ocarina of time,majora mask, 4 swords,the one with a bird cap, and like 2 other ones.

@J0J0Jetz

edgy teenager me loved dark link

@ashleyblack7419

Fun fact. In the german version the dark mirror and the mirror of twilight are both called "Schattenspiegel" which translates to shadowmirror. Both games also feature shadow links or at least depictions

@Xazyv

The thing is as soon as you acknowledge that most of the Links are different people it actually DOESN'T make sense for all of the Dark and Shadow Links to be the same

Add to that the fact that every Dark and Shadow Link seem to come into being under entirely different circumstances and that they all seem pretty vanquished by the end of their stories, and you've got a pretty solid case that each one is very much an entirely different entity

@LHSMeleeClub

Things got real quickly in four Swords Adventures when Shadow Link rolled up with his crew

@moustachelink8919

The dark Link in the water temple will always be my favourite, I always saw it as a interpretation of Link’s loneliness and anger since the only object in the room is a dry tree representing himself and when dark Link appears he initially copies your moveset and health but as you progress into the fight he will start becoming aggressive and starting to attack more often even standing on your sword and Link’s techniques with the sword to take the upper hand and when Link defeats it the tree and the emptiness vanishes leaving the regular room, it’s as if the room for every person that enters the temple it’s different in matters of emotions or trauma deep inside their being

@jackotherstar

If there was a shadow BotW/TotK Link with the same exact abilities the fight would go so hard with how insane it would be

@randomking7856

Age of calamity dark link is created by Astor using dark magic

@SLITproductions

My favorite interpretation of dark link was the one in the Twilight Princess Manga. Instead of being a symbol or a shadow clone, it’s a representation of the fact that Link is becoming what he hates most and is only hurting himself because of it.

@Godongo

Honestly, I've always thought that the Water Temple dark link was like a representation of the darkness inside of Link

Though, you are right. Each "dark link" is made differently.

@kiaelinkx

The “TWEELEE”?!

@Logancostanza

I’ve always liked dark link in every iteration shadow or dark doesn’t matter really cool character and love the skins in smash bros

@fencer16

Dark swagg got me laughing so much my parents were genuinely worried about me
