“It gives my anxiety a conclusion” THATS GENUIS!! As a chronically anxious horror lover I’m trying that!
i really wanna get more into horror but it’s hard when you have parents that don’t like horror and are strict about tv/movie ratings. like i have some movies in mind that i wanna watch but can’t because it’s rated R or rated pg-13 for reasons my mom wouldn’t like :(
Seriously just converted me from "interested in ASL, queer, interested in supporting the cool queer person I stumbled across on youtube, not especially interested in horror but subscribing because... algorithms?" to actually super excited to hear you talk about this lots and lots
DUDE. Thank you so much for putting this into words!! I always do this for my anxiety but I could NEVER verbalize why it worked!!
That’s number one; a genuis trick of the brain, and two; a fascinating take on the genre as a whole. I don’t partake in horror movies that much but I’m slowly dipping my toes into horror media (I’m fine with horror as long as it doesn’t move basically) and I’m starting to appreciate the artistry even solely on a character design level
Reminds me of the way my friend will literally ADD something that makes them anxious and then like… successfully gaslight themselves into no longer being anxious because that doesn’t exist
My guilty pleasure is natural disaster movies 😅 like Dante’s Peak and Day After Tomorrow. (And the occasional, “uh oh. Something’s broken… let’s nuke it.” (Looking at you The Core.)
i usually never watch horror movies because i literally cannot handle them, i will jump at the slightest spike in volume, but the way youre describing it makes me really want to! i think if i were to watch a movie from a more analytical perspective it might help me watch it all the way through, and i definitely enjoy overthinking and overanalysing when it comes to media. youre lowkey tempting me 😭
Huh I never thought of it like that! Very cool way to allow yourself to like things you normally wouldn’t be able to
Yes, horror! It's such a cool thingamabob and omg tricking your anxiety is genius
I want the horror recs now because I have a similar thing going! I love horror
this is so freaking cool. i've never thought of it that way before
That is so so smart
Omg love this!!
My Friend: Zombie movies are a commentary on consumerism Me: Really? MF: Yeah, thats why they always take refuge in a mall. Me: Mind Blown
That actually sounds like a great idea. Now if only I wasn't a coward and could actually bring myself to watch a horror movie . . . .
I love horror movies (jump scares annoy me though and i don’t consider those good movies tbh) and I definitely think this is the reason why. I feel like if i can watch one of them, my fear of something irl is less scarier. I also enjoy watching mst3k and how they “make fun” of “bad” movies that you can see what they were TRYING to do. The horror ones are usually the ones that you can see more love went into.
I was taught the sign for name was connecting your hands the same way you did there, but instead of tapping them together you make a circle in front of yourself w them if that makes sense. Do you think that's an outdated sign or was I just taught wrong? I'm also Canadian so it could definitely be a dialect thing Edit: I just realized I commented on the wrong video . . . I thought it was one of the customer service ones. I need sleep 😭
