I think this moment highlights Carol's biggest character flaw, which is that she is so trigger happy and full of herself that she doesn't listen to others around her. Honestly, this entire story arc could have been solved if Carol had actually listened to Tony about taking all of Ulysees's vision with a grain of salt since his visions calculate possible futures rather than a definitive one.
