The worst part of Kelski finishing half life 2 is that there will be no more videos on it...:_kelBubba:
When I finished Episode 2 back in 2022 I spent the next 2 months obsessing over Half-Life 3. Now that there’s evidence that Half-Life 3 is in development I can’t think about it because the idea that after so many years the finish line is finally in sight is driving me insane.
Bro, I swear Eli's death was one of the most heart-breaking twists ever.
I just realized the final chapter name "T-Minus One" is not only a reference to the time for the Rocket launch, but also means "Team Minus One", foreshadowing Eli's death... Also right before Alyx says "Prepare for unforeseen consequences", for a split second the G-Man flickers on the monitors behind Alyx.
6:23 alyx locking the fuck in, is terrifying as hell LMAO.
The "Heart to Heart" cutscene is the only moment in the entire franchise where an actual cutscene plays and takes control away from you in the middle of the game, not as a opening or ending to anything, but as a warning to you, and a message for Eli. I found it chilling when i first played this game about 8 years ago and i know the whole speech by heart just for how iconic it is.
The funny thing about the antlion grub smoothie bit is that it's pretty much spot on considering that in HL:Alyx you see the combine squish the grubs for whatever healing juices they produce for use in their healing stations
In HL1, you send a satellite up to close the portal, but it doesn’t work because Nihilanth is holding it open. In Ep2, you do the same thing, but of course this time it works, because the portal is only opened by Combine tech and there is no inter-dimensional being holding it open. What’s great about this is that is yet another piece of evidence that the Combine have no true power of their own, they’re only able to commandeer technology and power from other species. It even suggests that their telekinetic abilities may have been augmented, based on what they learned of the Nihilanth species. How the combine managed to subjugate entire planets in the first place… it’s probably been going on for centuries, like a snowball rolling downhill and just gathering and growing as it goes, to the point that it’s so big and moving so fast that almost nothing can stop it.
WAKE UP BABE, 1 HOUR KELSKI VID JUST DROPPED🔥🔥🔥
As someone who fell in love with this universe with the original HL2 release, I must say that seeing new fans always warms my heart. It truly works that way. Watching your first steps reminds me of my own first tries, first walkthroughs, and fresh new experiences. I thank you for such a wonderful flashback to my nearly 20-year-old memories. It's great that you, along with many new fans, won't have to wait more than a decade to experience a new chapter in this story. Over the years before HL, I revisited all the games, including the DLCs and the Portal series. After Alyx's release and its mind-blowing ending, I decided to try to find answers myself so we wouldn't have to wait another 10 years (some classic Post-EP2 PTSD thoughts). What I'm saying is that I've spent about 2 years crafting a unique theory, attempting to build all possible connections not only within Half-Life and Portal but across all of Valve's creations. It's safe to say that there is no exact analogue of what it contains, although some hardcore fans might have touched on a few small details. If you or anyone else is interested in this vast repository of information, I would be pleased to share it, as I have not yet published it on the english-speaking segment of the internet in a way that would have much resonance. Anyway, welcome to the community.
34:00 There is also another similar scene that a lot of people miss in the missle silo where you fight the combine. There's a heavy bunker door with gun emblacement behind it, if you throw a grenade there, it will get thrown back out and the combine will permanently close the door.
Watching the end of EP2 will always give me goosebumps and an unnatural feeling of dread. Valve really do just walk in, blow your mind, refuse to elaborate, leave.
Btw "Prepare for UNFORESEEN CONSEQUENCES" have a little more meaning than most people think. The very next chapter right after the resonance cascade in the original Half-life was called Unforeseen Consequences. So Mr. Gman kinda made a direct reference to this particular event and what could have happened if the Borealis was used by humanity
55:30 the reason why dog came after Eli died is because alyx said in half life 2 that dog was made to protect her, so when it was her turn dog jumped in. Also at 55:47, the vorts can’t heal him cause you killed the antlion guard with means no extraction of the larva
16:05 FUN FACT! This is actually true. In Half-Life: Alyx, you can find cylinders-thingies with living antlion grubs in them. Those are used in health stations you find around the game, where you put them in, proceeding to get juiced and used up to heal you.
Just a heads up Kelski if no one or if you haven't figured it out yet. There is a much more effective way to take out hunters with just the Gravity Gun. All you need is any prop that can hold Hunter Flechette (the darts they fire that explode). Let the hunters hit the prop you are holding and then launch it back at them. It will explode. Kills them in 1 hit depending on how many Flechettes are attached on the prop you launched at them.
5:04 Gordon doesn’t need to hear all of this, he is a highly trained professional and he knows what he is doing… sort of
I just finished Half-Life Episode 2 today, I knew it had a cliffhanger ending but I didn't know it was going to be like THAT.
9:42 Someone else probably mentioned it, but I like the phrase about the combine "You're playing Half-Life.... while your enemy is playing Stellaris"
