@KingsandGenerals

We love Devin and he is gonna remain our narrator for years to come, but we have been overworking him for some time by producing too many videos. Decreasing his workload is not easy as we don't want to fire any of our writers and animators, and no narration means no video is produced, therefore making a few writers and animators redundant. To keep the team intact and make Devin's workload manageable, we have decided after his request, to add a second narrator to the team. Liam will be narrating mostly non-serialized videos and some of the new series. This will improve Devin's work-life balance and make our team's work more sustainable.

@DouglasEdward84

To have one good narrator is great, to have two is a blessing.

@mariedioa

As a non-native english speaker, I have to say Liam's voice is a great addition to the team!
His voice is different from Devin's one, but both have a clear way of speaking, which makes it easy to understand what they are saying. Welcome to the team and thanks for your hard work!

@ronjohnson6916

Hey a new voice. It'll take some getting used to but I like it. Distinctive in a different way.

Fascinating topic. I do like the point that when initially proposed it was a nothingburger. And the point that it morphed into a justification of a semi-imperial America.

@MrSteveK1138

I'm very impressed with Liam! Glad to have you on board :_KnGLogo:

@Jon_the_Apostate

His voice is perfect. Especially for more factual videos on topics such as politics, political revolutions and social reforms, history of religions and movements, etc.
Such a calm but captivating voice.
Nevertheless, nothing tops Devin's voice in narrating wars. His is more energetic.

I enjoy Liam's voice a lot and he was a great pick. I thank the Kings and Generals team.

Welcome Liam

It should also be stated that the American populace was not very supportive towards the outreach of American influence as decades of isolation made them content with internal matters. This was seen through the memoirs of many journalists levied by the US government to, at the time, write pro war papers. So many were opposed to the idea in the government too. America would give up the claim to Cuba and only keep lands that were deemed friendly to American occupation with the exception to the Philippines. However, further wars in the Philippines would greatly sour American ideals of interventionism and thus put it back into isolationism before the start of WW1.

@KevinTheID

It's always a risk when bringing in new narrators because I've seen some brought in on other channels who were genuinely annoying, but Liam fits right in here honestly. You made a great choice!

Devin really needs the rest too. I bet his voice gets incredibly tired these days with the heavy video output.

@deanrinnan

Me, listening to Liam’s smoothly modulated voice in the video: “This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them!!!”

Seriously, the only thing better than one concise and easily understandable narrator is having two of them. Thanks K&G!

@Valkanna.Nublet

That declaration at 13:44 sounds rather like "Do what we like and keep us happy or we'll force you to, and it'll be your fault." which is the sort of thing an abusive partner says.

@someguyfromwisconsin

0:38 He said the thing!

@guilhermemarocco757

Brazil lived under the boots of a military dictatorship started by USA for decades...only a few years ago USA admited their direct participation in the 1964 coup in Brazil. Stating that the Generals who toppled our republic had direct support from CIA agents and a small fleet that happened to be anchored outside brazillian coast just a few miles outside Rio de Janeiro coast.

@edgargallegos4274

In Mexico We have a saying for the Monroe Doctrine: America para los Americanos (America for the Americans). This has a double meaning:

1) America the continent for all its inhabitants
2) America the continent for the Americans (USA)

@BenjaminYau

I like Liam's deep voice for this narration. I can see that his voice is a valuable addition to the team, and is particularly effective for "Kings" videos - those explaining politics, economics, philosophy and governing policies; whereas Devin's tenor voice with quicker, urgent pace is most optimal for "Generals" videos - those on military campaigns, war movements and progress, and modern updates. The channel's future is bright with these complementary voices! :_KnGLogo:

@angusmacdonald7187

A very useful overview of the use and abuse of the Monroe Doctrine. In regards to the early 20th century and American interventionism, I always point people towards Gen. Smedley Butler's "War Is A Racket", aka "Making the world safe for the United Fruit Company".

@anthonyfrench3169

I always look forward to coming home from work and hearing your narration on these shows. Definitely like hearing stories from an old friend. But, I also enjoying the new narrator. I hope both can stay on for quite some time.

@BlueStrategosJ

Liam's voice is properly magnificent for historical topics. I feels straight like listening to my favorite professor doing his lectures.

@ajrobbins368

Excellent narration by Liam. Sounds like the team found a solution that benefits everyone involved. Keep up the great work!

@sebastiansantoyo4509

Monroe Doctrine: until now you have become the very thing you swore to destroy

United States: I have brought peace, justice, and security to my new empire

Monroe Doctrine: your new empire?

United States: don't make me kill you

@minoru-kk

Great job, Liam! With the number of videos this channel has put out, I have no doubt that a new narrator is a good choice.

And the Monroe Doctrine. Even for Pacific Rim residents today, this word could be omnious. It could strengthen US control over us, or could be used as an excuse for selfish withdrawal
