Repunzel: She is never recognized as the lost princess and is executed for hiding a criminal Ariel: Caught when she is spying on the boat, and she is sold at a very sketchy market to the highest bidders, only to live the rest of her life in a tank. Elsa: She canât find a way to reverse the spell and she canât undo the frozen heart of Anna so she freezes herself so they can be together forever. All of a sudden I donât remember any princesses lol.

I think in the original story of Mulan the king wasn't quite as good of a king. He decided he wanted to take Mulan as a concubine, and given that he's the king, she couldn't exactly refuse. The lack of consent made her incredibly depressed and I think she killed herself in the end

What actually happened in the real Mulan story is that when she came home from the war she finds out that her dad died and her mom remarried, and the emperor requests for her to become his concubine, so she ends up killing herself.

I think Mulan letting her elderly father go die in war, getting married and becoming an unfulfilled housewife to someone she doesn't love somehow seems like the worst ending (probably being the most realistic, lol)
