3 things. In 4:56, the actress of vastra is Scottish like peter capaldi. This is why he said she talks properly. 2, in 6:27 I think the doctor isn't translating. He is talking in dreams about his new change and Clara because she can't see him. This is resolved later after the phone call. And 1, in 27:36 you can see the eleventh face in the doctor removing it. Also, the name of the sister ship madame de pompadour, is for the tenth doctor's episode with madame de pompadour.

The old man The Doctor gets the coat from is played by Elisabeth Sladen’s (Sarah Jane Smith) husband. In a way it is in tribute to her.

@granddaddyotaku636

The Twelfth Doctor is my Doctor 🫶
a veteran of war, a man who has lived too long and made too many mistakes. I love this man so much.
Welcome to the Twelfth Doctor era, he's cranky, he's silly, and he's a bit of a madman 🫶

@TheOtterBear61

I adore the 12th Doctor. Not only is he older you can see the influences of older Doctors in his portrayal.

@robvanriot

I can't see that anyone else answered this, so an "Agony Column" is an advice column in newspapers. Usually, people write in with personal or relationship problems, and an "Agony Aunt" or "Agony Uncle" (supposed expert) will give their take on it. I imagine something similar exists under a different name where you live!

@StarvedForTime

I think the Clara thing was to try and pull the audience in because they knew that an older different doctor was going to be a hard sell for people who'd only ever seen a young and nice doctor.

@jessetorres8738

In my opinion, Peter Capaldi is the best Modern Era Doctor. Maybe it's because I love the Back To The Future Trilogy so I notice parallels between him & Doc Brown. I also feel he has great character development over the course of his Era as The Doctor.

@KickSama

Capaldi's might be my favorite portrayal of the character, looking forward to seeing your reaction to the next 3 series!

@gerstelb

34:47 It’s been established that Eleven spent about 900 years on Trenzalore — it takes a very long time for a Time Lord to look that old. He was 1103 at Lake Silencio in Season 6, and I think there was a line about him being 1200 sometime during Season 7.

Of course, I just remembered now about the War Doctor. The reflection we briefly saw in “Night of the Doctor” was that of a young man, and he was old enough to regenerate from old age at the end “Day of the Doctor.” So he spent a long time fighting the Time War, and from the ages he gave during Classic Who and NuWho, it’s likely that he hadn’t been counting those years when giving his age — pretending that they didn’t exist, like that lifetime. So the Doctor is a lot older than we even thought up until this point.

@marthajones13

Love this episode. It brilliantly sets the tone for Twelve’s darker, more introspective era. So happy you’ve finally met Missy 😊

@jgrado3

Twelve!!! My Doctor :) The dinosaur in the middle of London, the homeless man in the alley, the clockwork man that has replaced himself again and again... It’s all him. I miss this Doctor so much. You’re in for a wild ride with this one.

@PatheticApathetic

The agony column is like a Dear Abby column. It’s a column for helping people with life advice and stuff. Its use here is a reference to Sherlock Holmes (since, in-Universe, Holmes is based on Vastra). He would sometimes browse the agony column to look for clues or to find quick cases he could solve from home

@dylanburton4955

This was such a good starting episode with the tone that perfectly reflects the twelfth Doctor. I absolutely love his character journey and I’m excited to see you react to episodes like Heavens Sent and the series 10 finale especially

@HuntingViolets

Rose didn’t get swallowed by a dinosaur, confused with a Sontaren, have the new Doctor insult her looks and personality and abandon her in a restaurant where they harvest your body parts (to be fair, Rose was abandoned in a ship where they did, but that was a few episodes later). I think this was a lot rougher of a regeneration, really.

@daveangel2991

I always forget that despite the dark parts, Moffat sprinkled this episode with so many really funny jokes and even physical comedy.

Edit: Also Missy's chomp noise is one of the best things Doctor Who has ever done.

@helixwither2837

You're the first one reactor I've seen that actually got what 12 meant when he said he missed Amy lol

@firefly24601

"Nothing is more important than my ego-mania!!!"

@jjjnettie

Peter Capaldi is my favourite Doctor. He is a brilliant actor and a major Doctor Who fan, he takes this role and runs with it.
Oh, Missy Missy Missy. Finally, a female character with an iconic costume we can use for Cosplay.

@domsquared9878

Twelve/Clara is far and away my favorite Doctor and companion relationship in the entire series

@dorememe8548

I loved Capaldi’s Doctor during his run. I’m seeing a lot more people express their love for Capaldi’s Doctor lately, and that makes me so happy. ❤️
30:04 In the episode “The Girl in the Fireplace,” where the Doctor meets Madame de Pompadour, the Doctor, Rose, and Mickey go onto a spaceship that 😅repairs itself using human organs.
