Oh my god, its a Zelda 1 reference. Fairies have specific spawn points in that game. They are much larger sprites, and they only heal 8 hearts in that game. What a callback.

OMG thank you! I accidentlly summoned one of these as a child, right there in the bend of the river. It was so surreal since id never seen one before. It moved like a fairy but disnt go in a bottle and had no wings. None of my older sibblings belivied me when i told them after and i could never recreate it. Thought for the longest time my game was haunted or i had dreamt the whole thing up. Now i finally have an answer to what that wad, and laid a lot of old doubts to rest. Amazing that this game still surprices us decades later ❤
