My question is why is she recording herself praying?
100% agree I dont speak in tongues with ease at all but many years ago I was getting ready for church and this feeling of anxiousness and desperation invaded me. Not knowing what to do I threw myself on the floor and just prayed God I am going to be late for church, what is going on? And a flood of weird words came out of me and I was very late for church. I didnt tell anyone until the next week. Our youth pastor told us he was evangelizing in the Amazon and the trees around the church caught fire and it was closing in on them and were barely able to get out on time. And he jokingly said, while you were all safely singing here we were about to be burnt alive. And that was the exact time I was praying in tongues.
For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified. 1 Corinthians 14:2-5
Allie, I think you are referring to the fact that she posted this online being the biggest reason you think it is wrong? I sort of agree with you there but we can’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Just because speaking in tongues isn’t considered normal in American mainstream Christianity doesn’t mean that it isn’t needed and practiced. Even if it was being faked 99% of the time we can’t disregard the 1%. There are just too many miraculous stories about tongues for them to all be made up. Also, I want to say that I obviously don’t agree with you about every single thing you say but would like to thank you so much for always boldly standing for our Christian faith.
It’s very interesting to read the comments and see everyone’s perspective on this topic! From what I can read and understand Peter clearly says to the people he is speaking to in Acts 2:39 that the HolyGhost is a promise to them and their children and those who are afar off. Meaning literally anyone. There will be evidence, “fruit” of the Spirit that will show up in a persons actions, reactions, and lifestyle when they have the Spirit of God in their life! Galatians 5:22-23 There are spiritual gifts that can come along with the Holy Ghost but it is up to God who receives what and scripture tells us to desire to have those gifts! 1 Corinthians 12-11, 14-1. Scripture does tell us that when one speaks in an unknown tongue to a group of people that there should be an interpreter. There’s a load of reasons of why and so much to unpack in scripture when it talks about it. So I highly suggest anyone, no matter how you view it, to take a deep study and have an open mind! ❤
"It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and The Bible." {George Washington, U.S. Founder}
Paul clearly said not to forbid speaking in tongues and he said he spoke in tongues more than all those he was writing to. He also said prayer in the spirit and he prayed with understanding as well.
God is not the author off confusion.
Speaking tongues is for the enemy not to understand. It's very powerful. You have to really study this topic to understand. It's so much deeper than just a simple, humble prayer.
James 3:16 For where envy and self-serving exist; confusion and every evil thing are there.
we are called to set our minds on the Spirit not the other way around. when we pray in tongues the mind does not understand but the Spirit does
Just remembered why I don’t follow this page . 😬
I feel that delving into different doctrines is only going to divide us as believers. I really like your podcast, but I really don't think this subject should be priority. It will only divide us, no matter what you believe.
What about most of what book of Acts teaches ?? The reference to speaking in tongues is quite frequent. Day of Pentecost, house of Cornelius, believers in Ephesus etc
Yep, I spent 25 years in the Assemblies of God. Never saw anyone speak a real human language. Like in Act chapter 2.
While i agree that you shouldn't put a video like this on social media i would caution people saying that its gibberish or demonic. Its possible she's doing this out of ignorance.
In the New Testament when they spoke in tongues it was a foreign language. Not gibberish.
Thank you Allie for exposing this ridiculously, nonsense. Sadly this individual I don't know what diety she's worshipping but it definitely is not Jesus Christ, the God of heaven and earth.
In a previous church I've been too, I knew a guy who would record 3-hour videos of himself just doing this rubbish and posting it on his Facebook page. He immediately unfriended and blocked me when I told him he is deceived and that this is not the real gift of speaking in tongues.
