Mortius you should also show casper Coraline it deserves to be seen, the prince of egypt is also a good alternative if you're only showing musicals
It only just occurred to me that Jack is really like a reverse Grinch. Grinch hates Christmas because he misunderstands what the holiday is about, and Jack loves it despite misunderstanding it. So Jack wants to steal Christmas for an exact opposite reason that the Grinch does.
I feel like Jake's Lament is a good example of burnout, like, "Things are going well, everyone loves what I'm doing, and I'm good at what I do, Why am I unhappy?"
Mortius outfit stole the whole show honestly.
Casper: “i almost want to call her the corpse bride…” Mortius: 😈😄🤭 You know you’re gonna have to watch the Corpse Bride now. 😅
'I Want' songs are typically very early in a character's introduction - even using Epic as an example, the very first song we hear Telemachus sing is his I want song. It only shows up Act 2 because the character only shows up Act 2. Odysseus doesn't quite get a pure I Want song, because the first song also acts as en exposition dump. But in "Horse and the Infant" it is clearly established that what Odysseus wants is to get home to his son and wife: "(What do you live for?) Penelope (What do you try for?) Telemachus (What do you wish for?) I'm on my way (What do you fight for?) attack!" Unless the core premise of the story is that the character doesn't have any wants/dreams you can typically expect it to show up with-in 1-2 songs from their introduction.
The original studio was Touchstone Studios, which was Disney's 'adult orientated production banner'.
7:08 Mortius, this is why your my fave reactor. Your funny, your sweet, your intelligent, and the thought ‘I want to hug this man’ has crosssed my mind more then once. Keep being awesome.
Casper: "So would you classify this as a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie?" Me: "Alright, Imma hide in the war bunker. This about to get messy" puts on helmet and ducks for cover
Mortius rising when Jack does made me giggle so much
This film isn't actually claymation, they had dedicated puppets. They did STYLE them to look a bit claymation-ish, but rather than having, say, malleable material for heads that would be formed into expressions, they had pre-built heads or faces that they'd swap out. This is just stop-motion.
You mentioned Jack and Sally are the only ones that seem to “get it” and kind of at least somewhat understand the concept of Christmas. I’ve never thought of it before but perhaps the reason Sally kind of gets it or at least doesn’t view the information through the lens of Halloween is because she was created into the world of Halloween instead of born into it? The Doctor said she wasn’t ready for so much movement so you could assume she was created relatively recently and that was her first Halloween so in general she’s still learning about the world around her and is therefore able to take in the information easier and it would explain how she relates to Jacks mentality in his “I want” song
Mortius never disappointing with the thematical drip 🔥
I agree, I think it's more of a Halloween movie. Mostly because the majority of the movie takes place in Halloween land. And because all of the main characters are from Halloween land. Plus, the whole point of the movie is them turning Christmas into a scary thing.
i watch this movie religiously throughout october, november and december. it is an autumn/winter film for me
saw Mortius missing during the end of the first song as he rises along with Jack Me: Oh you spooky bish 😂 I thought the vid glitch lolz Also Casper gonna love ‘ the Corpse Bride ' / Sally's song hehe
I love the fact that this channel is just Mortius yapping abt things and Casper loving it
This movie was owned by Disney at time of release, but because they felt it was too scary for their usual audience (fearing the backlash they got for Black Couldron) they released it under one of their secondary production companies.
as an old disney connoisseur, most "i want" songs is the 2nd one, my all time favorite disney movie, the hunchback of notre dame, (one you should 100% check out, it's underrated and amazing) the second song is the "i want" song, and it ughhhhhhhhh i love it sm, it genuinely is one of, if not the best soundtrack from old disney.
