I loved this song the very first time I heard it. It was the first thing I encountered on your Patreon and I immediately knew it was worth everything and more! I already listened to it over and over but woah here we go again.The reference to The Last Of Me is done so well visually and lyrically! Sleppu's Art is so gorgeous it makes it EVEN BETTER. It's like your music and his style are meant for each other I can't think otherwise because it fits so well and I love listening and watching it. Thank you two so much for your hard work! Love ya!

Okay, I have a theory about this song: Circus Monster, Last of Me, and this song (The Start) are all connected, in that order. Here is how I think the story goes. Luka is a "monster" in a circus who sings and performs songs. Nobody likes her or her songs, however. Except for her Master, Gumi. And Luka loved her. But after a show, Gumi went backstage and was attacked by Rin and Len, the lions, and was killed, and because of this, Rin and Len were forced to leave the circus (and by that I mean they were killed as well). Luka was never told this, but she noticed Gumi (and Rin and Len, but she didn't care about them nearly as much as she did about Gumi) was gone. Gumi was later replaced by a new Master, who Luka didn't like because she thought he was cruel and evil. She of course had to obey though, because he was her Master. But she refused to think of him as EVER replacing Gumi. Eventually, Luka escapes the circus, but before she does, she sings a parting song, telling everyone at the circus had seen her worst, seen how depressed she had been, seen how miserable she had been, seen the last of her. But there was more to her than met the eye. She tried to show them what she could be, but never got the chance. So instead she told them she was more than what they could see. After singing this parting song, she fled from the circus, that being the last of her any of them had ever seen. For a long time, she is alone in the big world outside of the circus. But she eventually meets and seeks solace in a girl named Meiko, who understood and empathized with her pain, and appreciated her music. After awhile, after a firm trust and bond has been formed, Luka begins to tell Meiko deeper thoughts. She wanted to be taken back to the start, the start of everything. She wanted to do it all over, to restore what she had lost, change herself so people didn't hate her, perhaps never meet her cruel master, and never have lost Gumi. But in all of her ranting, she begins feeling bad for all of that, thinking Meiko wouldn't want to hear all of that. But Meiko did, and she understood. She too wanted to change the present, to go back to the start, to try it over. And while they couldn't go back into the past to fix their lives, they could fix their future, by not leaving each other, not letting go of each other. They held onto their past memories to give themselves a brighter future. So instead of going back to the start, they together could make it to the end.
