I remember this…I was working for the San Diego Municipal Court downtown—the old courthouse. He was headed downtown to the courthouse. We were all watching it on TV from work. Good times.

I lived near the armory when this happened and I can still remember the vehicles parked along curbs that were crushed by the tank. After he got the tank onto the 163 and high-centered it on the median, you could still see the marks the treads left on the center divide for months afterwards.

What they didn't mention in this video is that the guy was able to steal the tank because someone from the armory left the keys inside the tank.
