@human962

The fact that Pepsi was concerned about her being more popular than the drink 😂

@ezioblazesit9017

I used to love Sierra Mist. I never knew why they changed it to Starry, and now nonody buys it at my store. Hell we even had coupons first few months that we started selling it, and nobody bought it.

@TrillMurray

I thought they just rebranded it to distract from the fact that they switched from sugar to high fructose corn syrup

@MarkARoutt

Looking at the TM info, Pepsi still holds the rights to the name. It never lapsed and in fact was re applied in 2017. Looking at the tadr website for Sierra Mist will show there were no proceedings or legal issues that came of this trademark. I think that Pepsi won't make a statement because this is all public information that can be found pretty easily.

@ord3r781

My old school’s concession stand sold Sierra Mist for years, it only ever sold okay. The moment they switched to Starry, the remaining Mists sold in days.

@amadddd0

And now nobody drinks Starry

@QPatriot07

They also reformulated it. Sierra Mist tasted better than Starry, but Sprite tastes better than either!

@JoHillz

My Grandma loved sierra mist ... Both the drink & the content 😂

@kei7o

Nobody ever talks about 7up. The only lemon-lime soda that has a hint of lemon-lime 😂

@Zakuto34

As much as I love your content, Mike, this case isn't a case, it's just a rumour that the content creator started. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office records indicate that PepsiCo's trademark for Sierra Mist remains active and has not lapsed.

@bigtomar

was half expecting him to say "and that was how we got 7 up."

@cruxmind

Trademarks are lethal man. My friend has a trademark but a company tried to get a domain with his trademark name. They got the domain name and realized that they couldn't commercialize it because "someone already trademarked it."

@bertdog2119

Everyone forgetting about the brief period of time where we had Mist Twist. Mist Twist I believe was identical in formula, but Starry had a distinctly different one from Sierra Mist.

@OrigamiCL

Some fact checking might be beneficial here— trademarks are public information; it’s fairly easy to disprove Sierra Mist’s story. There was no trademark dispute, and the change was due to dwindling sales and money (a switch from sugar to high fructose corn syrup, namely.)

@lw6866

It was very sad. The last large brand American soda that used cane sugar. I stopped drinking soda after Sierra Mist was pulled.

@McBehrer

I was WONDERING what happened to Sierra Mist

@Saimeren

I always though 7up was the Pepsi version of Sprite.

@SamSepiol59

Actually, look up the trademarks. She made this story up.

@Dessie0

Not sure about this one. PepsiCo still has Sierra Mist registered as a Trademark.

I think Pepsi chose voluntarily to rebrand to Starry because Sierra Mist wasnt selling well. Preventing being associated with the influencer was probably just a bonus, but it seems unlikely that a huge corporation would rebrand a "flagship" drink because an influencer happened to share the same name.

@axdambient

At the very beginning people really did drink Sierra Mist. I was a kid when they launched it, and a lot of us liked it better because it was less sweet, so it had a serious bite like a tonic water without it being actual tonic water. But a lot of people complained and it became a crappier Sprite
