I saw this play in theaters. I can’t imagine how ungodly the movie would be. Edit. Yes, the music is actually quite enjoyable and the acrobatics are insane, but the storyline just wasn’t there for me.

Funny story, the term "jellicle cat" comes from the writer of the original script, TS Elliot. His niece was just learning to speak at the time and "jellicle cat" was her attempt to say "dear little cat"

Also Illy: "You got Taylor Swift, and James Corden, and Rebel Wilson, and Jason Derulo..." plus the rest of the boatload of big budget celebs in this movie (who would have probably been better played by actual stage actors...), I can start to see where most of that money went.

Honestly, if Cats was an animated film and it had this style (2:15) maybe it wouldn't a masterpiece, but it'd at least be enjoyable

The only reason I didn’t like Cats the movie was because of the way they did the story... The original musical is messy and confusing and that’s kind of what makes it fun. They kind of over explained and simplified everything in the movie so I felt that ruined it. Also, some of the designs of certain characters made it really hard to figure out which character was which. I believe they could’ve done a lot better with the CGI, yes, but I can’t say it’s the worst I’ve seen. The main thing with it is the faces, I’d say. I love the original musical- it’s my favorite actually. I just wish they would’ve captured the essence of the original and portrayed it a lot better. I just feel bad that the animators that did the incredible amount of work on that CGI had to be bashed down because it didn’t look the greatest.
