@PieNine

I'm 21 and feel like my life is already over, not trying to trauma dump but we're getting evicted and my entire household is riding on my salary and yeah it feels like my life is already over, but this, this gives me hope. Thank you honestly

@flameofthegame

The fact that basically you have to "lie" to have a better chance at a job is a factor i always hated when i applied for a job ,since my parents drilled it into my brain that i should never do it .

@krowflin4468

Lesson learned: it's never too late and you're never too broken to work it out.

I REALLY needed that.

@ReiShs

I work as a software dev and picked up art again after a long break, so this story speaks to me on so many levels. I do not know whether I ever want to do it professionally one day (especially given current AI situation, it might be hopeless) and definitely need to learn fundamentals first, but this video is inspirational. The part about improvement is an eye opener - I am currently struggling a lot with it.

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope it works out well for you in the future.

@holo7070

We’re all gonna make it. Just gotta keep going.

@tailsdollchaos

As a person who struggled to graduate in Computer Science, has some mental health issues and always enjoyed drawing to the point of wanting to turn it into a career (I guess the world has a limited number of backstories) this was super validating, thank you!

@aidikei

This could be me but I damn know my last destination is either McDonalds or the homeless shelter

@JayJay09M

Video got me so invested I stopped drawing to fully focus on it

@cheedar_m

Okay knowing pikat is working at Riot is a plotwist to me ngl

@itssquishy3364

Moral of the story is:
Stop lying to yourself
don’t be harsh on yourself

@crispy.dragon

Thank you so much for making this video, I've recently finished high school and I've always liked to draw but I decided to go for Computer Engineering anyway and it's great to know someone out there has already had a similar story. I was scared of abandoning my passion entirely.

I'm currently trying to keep up with both, even though I have slowed down with art and I've been trying to get back into it.

@cupofdirt3635

Theres a real comfort in your story that made me tear up, i think its because im making those same mistakes, too upset with myself to keep pushing on despite my own perceived failures. Ive only recently been able to push forwards in my art journey, and now what i know what i can do, im scared to fall back and fail again. I think i just needed to realize how much i missed 2d drawing and 3d modeling. So thank you, this really helped

@Lakstoties

I felt this story. Went electrical engineering, wasn't feeling it. Tried to pursue art, wasn't really skilled enough. Fell back on CS, got a bachelors snd masters. 2008 financial crisis hit and it was a either crappy dev jobs or long stretches of unemployment. Tried to make any creative outlet I had into something paying: Writing, Board Game design, Tabletop RPG design, and even Video game design. Just flops all around. Had fun trying but no messureable success.

Thankfully, I got a job at my old university. It was good, but definitely wasn't doing the best mentally. Ended up doing writing prompts on a lark and enjoyed them. One turned into a million word serial that served ss a much needed outlet. Is it good enough for anything official? Hell no. But, it works enough for me. Keeps me sane enough in this crazy world.

Very happy you got recognized for your talent and found a route into a field that appreciates it. Sometimes when the front door doesn't work, you got try the back bathroom window.

@muddeo

Actually wild story. I was not expecting so much hardship and I can't even begin to imagine how difficult all of that was to go through at the time. Thank you for sharing this pikat, I'm so happy you got through it all because your art is a treasure and your story is insanely inspirational.

@nilsus8365

damn that was inspiring as I'm in a simular position rn. Computer Science student, getting back into art and having simular mental issues. This gave me some goosebumps and lots of motivation. ty for sharing C:

@Kitty_with_gun-hk2ukNegl

Im soooooo inspired rn, I’m from Hong Kong too, I like art and your videos really motivate me

@Valery0p5

I kept getting this channel recommended over time, I can't believe I would see a lot myself in your experience...
As a 24yo stuck in CS college for 6 years who has always had a fascination for art, thanks.
It does feel validating to see there's still some path open for us...
(And yes I did see the second video, congrats on getting your design in game!)

@kurirrempeyek

Thank you so much for sharing your story:) I feel the same way and I hope that one day I found what I truly want to do in life too

@nintenerd7680

As a Game Dev Grad who also struggled in uni and is also going through the job applications for my first game dev role. This video really spoke to me. Only discovering last year I felt more in tune with my art side and I've been practicing techniques to get better. All the best Pikat!

@exeopro410

I loved this, thanks for the inspiration, Pikat. I need to fall in love with art again.
