I think of Chappell Roan, she has such a distinctive style that really represents her personality and music. When You see her, you instantly understand get her vibe. Madison always gave “L.A Influencer”, I don’t know anything about her or her music because she just didn’t stand out to me. I think she should go for a dark fantasy aesthetic, you still get the doll look but with a heavier ambience.
the costume rule is the best test: if you can’t dress up for them as halloween, they don’t have a solid identity or branding as an artist
I think one of the main reasons why she's not so popular it's because a lot of people see her as an influencer, not an artist That's an impediment for a lot of people who choose to not give her music an opportunity
I’ve said for years that’s she’s “too perfect” & “too trendy” to actually make a memorable mainstream impact. Her branding lacks depth and feels shallow despite her actually being an interesting person. She’s a trend follower as opposed to a trendsetter and if she keeps doing that she will never be a mainstream popstar
I think Madison’s main issue right now is her brand tied to always being Pretty. Conventionally pretty. She’ll sometimes lean into an aesthetic like the futuristic vibes of Life Support or the dreamy vintage doll look for that tour but it’s only a surface level. I think a great example of this is her hair, she never experiments with it and always has it in 4 styles and roughly similar colors. Had she donned a blonde wig for the Life Support tour it would’ve made such a difference, or had she darkened her hair jet black or a cool toned dark brown. Even her makeup, almost always the same. Notice how even when she does a theme like, it’s still the same “Pretty” vibe. “Pretty alien, pretty horror movie character, pretty doll, pretty robot” I think she has the same issue Sydney Sweeney is having in the movie world, where they’re trying to show the world their range and authenticity but stilly relying on their body and perceived attraction. There’s a video detailing Sydney’s current career choices and compares it to Margot Robbie’s career which had followed a similar trajectory until she broke out of it with I Tonya. Basically, what Madison needs is: to play a character. Like you said, the siren, or the femme fatale. For a whole album cycle. Not a super strict or defined aesthetic (although it always helps) but an underlying theme. If she wants to do girly dolly coquette themed, then make it a lover girl album and tie it all in. If she gets deep and personal, dial down the outfits and bring out the casual street wear for promo and mv’s and keep it simple . She also really needs a hit songs. Not a viral tik tok presence that’s quickly forgotten. Like she needs a mainstream song. Not just for the money but also for the credibility in the industry which’ll give her more freedoms. I also secretly think Madison’s lukewarm success has been a part in her creative stump bc she isn’t getting pushed or back as much as she could be. Once she’s able to “prove” her worth I think it’ll be different and she’ll get more people signed on to her vision as an artist and that can lead to her becoming more confident in her work and making more high quality work so that the success won’t really matter bc it’ll be critically acclaimed. Idk if it’s making sense but it’s like a process
I truly think the reason why she isn't popping off is because she doesn't have a specific style. It looks like she wears what's trendy. Ariana had the mini skirts/ponytail. Taylor is tall blonde with the bangs. Sabrina is the short, tanned & glammed blonde in short skirts. Chappell Roan is the curly dark red in extravagant drag costumes & bold make up. Popstars have to almost be like cartoon characters and wear similar stuff to build their brand. If someone dressed up as any of these women, it would be recognizable.
Dark seductive siren is such an aesthetic for her i never noticed that until now. She needs to get on it!!
The sirens is so good for her because she has such a siren voice
You should definitely be brand stylist because the aesthetic you chose for Madison really suits her personally
Siren is SO Madison it's crazy, she has the look and the sound (her voice omg???) and I too wish more people would give her the light of day because she's brilliant.
madison needs to see this
ariana's look was so key to her brand for such a long time that people just started calling her ponytail lol, and people call taylor blondie too. i'm just sad that people seem to think of madison as an influencer first and an artist second. she could slay so hard and so consistently if anyone working with her had some sense and her team will Not let her under any circumstances 💔
I feel like Lana Del Rey gets away with also being all over the place with her fashion because her music speaks for itself. Madison, not being quite as iconic as Lana yet, would greatly benefit from a more cohesive image. I think she should play more with an edgier, sexy style, since she looks like a young Megan Fox. Edit: Dark feminine/siren is perfect!
this needs to be sent to her management asap!! you're so spot on, she has all the makings of an it girl on the pop scene but the branding truly has been holding her back and the siren/femme fatale aesthetic would eatttt
You can’t be Madison Beer for Halloween, recognizably. You can for all of the other artists you name. Great video❤
the siren for madison is the most genius thing ive ever heard, she literally looks and sounds like what you would think when someone says "siren"
Me, someone who’s not a celebrity and can’t sing: “I need to strengthen my visual identity”
Hopefully she builds a brand or style for herself soon so that she can grow as an artist more. Bella Poarch has done a really good job with that even if people still think of her as a TikToker, she has a clear style. Madison could be big, if she gets a hold on her style soon.
As someone who barely knows Madison beyond word of mouth, this video was so accurate. I never listen to her music because I don’t know what to expect and seeing her Princess outfits on tour made me think it would match that aesthetic, which doesn’t interest me. Hearing that she makes “dark pop” made me SO much more intrigued but I never would have guessed that. And even now I’m not inclined to go listen because without the visuals it’s just not an immersive experience. She absolutely needs to see this 🙌
